If you're on disability are you able to foster a child?

I'm on disability for bipolar disorder, but I'm medicated and see a psychiatrist regularly.

I'm wondering if I would be able to foster a child or if being on disability would discredit me.

no because here a bipolar woman stabbed her son and hid him under the porch when cps came to check on a complaint. It only takes one inncident to start a discriminating witch hunt on a condition like bipolar

Yes, you can babysit if you get the baby out  of the crib.  Bi-polar is tricky diagnosis.  talk with thudeds wh need addditional help.

In my state (Florida) when my husband and I were going to the classes, they told us that we had to have enough money to go around and cover the extra child/ren because sometimes the checks don't come in.  You also get these children in emergencies and need to be prepared for them.  I don't know about your mental illness (although the do put you through a psychological evaluation), but I highly doubt that you get enough off of disability to cover your needs plus the needs of any children they send you.

In my state, no, you would not be able to foster or even adopt (through the state).  I've already asked. If you are so disabled by a mental disability that you are unable to work, the state feels that you are not stable enough to take on a child who may have problems.  Don't know what other states do, however.

what state are you in? how much surplus do you have? do you have the capacity to take care of another child? these are questions that you should have the answer to cuz it will matter in the decision process. You can do it in my state because the stat is sending assistance to help with cost they just want to make sure that you can take care of the new little person....GOOD LUCK
