i would say technically not, because your not free to roam. but at the same time you will think your free so wont experience the anxiety that comes with being caged, even though your not really free

If even being in a cage, you're believing you're free then its an illusion but if you're talking about thinking then nothing can stop that as it can go beyond limits & only you yourself can constrain your thoughts & if you do constrain them, well, thats worst than being caged.

For a very long time I felt trapped in my world.  I was so negative about this for a long time.  Then I woke up and realized how negative I was.  I started talking to myself in a positive manner, and I was completely grateful for all I had in my life.  And all the sudden... my whole world changed.  I WAS FREE!  My physical environment has not changed, only mental, and I have never felt more FREE & ALIVE.  

A cage cannot kill the mind & soul.  Only the mind can let the cage overpower the soul.

stupid question, depends wholly of your definition of 'free'

if free means to you being able to do whatevr you like, then being in a cage is not being free

however, if, being in a cage, you don't look at your situation as being caged, you could say your mind is free. But not thinking you are caged, while you are, means your mind is not free.

that is a really good question.......when i was in an mri machine i was imagining i was at the beach and i could be there in my mind and remain calm...but i was still stuck in that machine....

i dunno........somehow we are all only as free as we are allowed to be and yet we never think about it.

like sometimes if i am in a formal meeting and it has to be totally professional.........I sit back and think what would everyone do if i jumped up and danced on the table or ran around the room screaming........i would never do it so I am not really free to.........

I think you will never be free that way without putting it into action. Thinking of it could make one free but that is considered just an illusion if the physical is not responding the same in reality.
