im planning a trip with friends and by the time the trip comes around were all gonna be 17 but we dont know what do we need to be allowed to go ever there or to comeback since were all underage

If traveling by air you will need a passport and photo id to re-enter the US from Mexico.

Mexico requires a notorized letter by the parents of any minor traveling in the country.  It must include names, travel dates, airlines and reason for travel.  The minor must carry the letter on them at all times.

Enter in Mexico

Three items are needed to enter Mexico:

*A Photo I.D. (such as a Driver's License or a passport, starting at age 18 and above)

*A Tourist Card or F.M.N.

*A Valid Proof Of Citizenship

*Tourist Card

This two part document is your "permission" from the Mexican government to visit Mexico . It is available free of charge, although sometimes difficult to obtain in large quantities. The airlines always have an ample supply upon check-in. Or, if all else fails, you can obtain one in Mexican Immigration upon arrival.

If traveling by car you will need a   WHTI-compliant document, birth certificate and photo ID.
