  1. if you are referring to a rotary phone, often just holding the line will do the same thing, pressing pound normally just expedites the process

  2. If you're calling an IVR and they ask you to press the pound key.... just stay on the line. After 30 - 60 seconds it will force you through to an operator.

  3. no!

    The only way to generate DTMF with a old rotary phone is to have an optional hand held DTMF generator. You need to hold the DTMF generator to the transmitter and press the digits.

  4. If the old phone is rotary - you just have to stay on the line and you will be connected.  If it's a touch tone (with buttons) but when you press them you hear a rotary sound - there may be a switch in the back or on the bottom of the base to go between pulse and tone.  Switch it to tone.

  5. I'm thinking it's the button that looks like this --> #

  6. It is impossible to generate a DTMF Tone when you dial pound key (#) on a old dial phone, thus cannot activate feature or functions that you required.  Alternatively you can us a handphone set with DTMF keytone on, and put the ear piece near the mouth piece of your old dial phone, just press the # key, it should work.
