If you've ever been a bartender or grocery store clerk, would you typically check ID's for holograms?

I don't know what state you live in, but here in California, clerks are prompted to check all IDs when selling alcohol. Our IDs and driver's licenses have a magnetic strip in them so the clerk can swipe it to make sure it's real.

i would not ask for there id i don't care when i turn 21 im gonna buy alchol for minors when they give there money.

I glance at the picture then the birthdate.  If I'm at all wary I ask them when their birthday is while I'm looking at the ID.  If they stutter at all I look for the tiny details.  If the ID is damaged at all or if I have any question at all I check for holograms and a few others tricks IDers know about ;)
