My one female cat isn't fixed. I just couldn't afford to do it. Luckily now I have a full time job, how much am I looking at?

Plus the shots for my new cat? (and he'll be fixed too)

My one female cat is normally non-affectionate. She stays away, but lately she follows me all the times, and meows! She is a quiet cat, so the meowing has surprised. This morning I found 3 puke piles, all liquid. Do you think she is pregnant?

  1. Anamal controle does it for cheep where I live...

  2. For a female cat its roughly 130$ for the operation/vaccinations, depending on the vet. Cats are known to become more affectionate when pregnant. More prominent nipples is another sign. Was she going outside even though she wasn't fixed?

I believe I payed around $60 to have my cat neutered at the vet. The web site has places that have reduced pricing and answers a lot of questions. Sometimes special events are held, where societies will neuter/spay for free or reduced price. Check your community.

If she is a kitten she will need her kitten shots; your vet will set up a schedule.

There was nothing in your cats stomach when they "puked"; probably just a little hair in their stomach they tried to cough up. I do not think any thing is wrong I would just keep an eye on them.

It is never to late to have a cat "fixed", has he sprayed?

  4. WE had a stray... ok.. I take that back, she WAS a stray but she pied us for a family so now she's our outside cap.  Anyway she wasn't fixed, and she got pregnant.  It was reallllyyyy noisy when she was in HEAT, she meowed all the time, but we didn't discover that until we caught her in the act.  We hoped she wasn't pregnant, but we had no way of knowing until she had kittens in our garage.  She didn't throw up very much (we would have seen it in our garage) and she didn't act abnormally.  So she could be pregnant, if she's had the possibility to be pregnant, however, she could also be in heat, or just have a tummy ache.

As for cost, it depends on where you live and where you go.  In my small town it costs about 100-200 dollars... but you have to remember it's a one time thing.  Perhaps you could call a vet and get a quote?  If it seems like too much, I would visit a local humane society and see if they have any 'free spay' certificates.  Explain you want to fix your cat but they don't have the money.  We had an association who used to have those.

Also, looking at your edit... unless you work a LOT, I think you would have seen it happening.. (and males are very cheap to fix)

  5. Take your girl to be spayed immediately.  Call around to different vets to find the best prices. My vet charges $40 for a spay and $35 for a neuter. Check with your SPCA or Humane Society to see if there are any discount clinics or programs you might qualify for. You don't have much time if she is pregnant, so do that today. If no programs, check with your vet about multiple cat discounts.  Mine will give 10% off for more than 1 cat. She can be spayed until 3 weeks into the pregnancy.  My vet charges $22 for the 4 in 1 shot and $10 for rabies.

  6. Yes, you female is pregnant I'm pretty sure...  Check her belly and see if the fur around her nipples has come out leaving them more clearly defined, this is called "pinking up" and happens in the 3-4th week of pregnancy.  A feline pregnancy lasts about 65 days and the kittens only "quicken" (start moving) a week or so before they're due to be born.  All this helps you to work out her approximate due date...  Once the kittens are born and she's stopped nursing them you can have her fixed.  I'd get your male done asap though as males can start spraying around your house and their pee stinks!

Feed your female kitten food during her pregnancy as she'll need the calories and calcium.  She'll also need more food than normal, yet more when she's nursing or she'll get skinny and sick.  The added calcium helps save her getting osteoporosis so it's pretty vital, also a cat with too low a level of calcium is more likely to need a c-section.

The good news is that many females are friendlier once they've had kittens and been fixed! :)

  7. omg yes she is all the surprising meowing puking and following u around yes she is unlucky pregnant..

    ps:she meow's a lot because she telling u something..

good luck i hope i have helped u..

  8. I have to say it's a little disappointing to hear you took on a pet in the first place when you can't afford the basics in looking after them.

They're indoor cats but there's one male and one female.  I think it's quite obvious what's happened.
