  1. I'm Spaniard. I hate bullfighting and I'm against it. Obviously why

  2. Not in Madrid, but you really have to go in with the attitude that "this is part of their culture".  If you don't think you can stomach it, I don't suggest going, but you could just tour the Arena, just to see it.  It looks GORGEOUS from the photos.

It IS a kind of gruesome sport.  Lots of people can't handle it.

  3. Sorry I didn't go in Madrid... I went to one in Ávila which is pretty close by.

So... I was on a trip with some people from my school and other nearby high schools.  It was an optional excursion that cost €50.  I signed up because I didn't want to miss out on what might have been my only chance to ever see a bull fight.    When I signed up and paid, I didn't really know anything about bull fighting.  I started to hear things about "Oh yeah... sometimes the bull dies..." and stuff like that.  Then we were on the bus driving to Ávila from Salamanca when I learned there were 6 bulls involved.  And they all die.  I was a little disappointed that I had paid €50 to go watch 6 bulls die.  It kind of just got a little bit more depressing after each bull.  It seemed really pointless to me.  I'm not even one of those like vegetarian animal rights activists either.  I don't regret going, but I'll never go again.  I guess it was a good "cultural enrichment experience," but it just isn't something I like or believe in.  There was also this really annoying band that would play the same music over and over again and it just made the whole thing kind of cheesy.

I do love Spain though, more than anything.  Really.
