  3. I watched an Ottawa-Toronto playoff game in 1999 or 2000 and Domi took a stupid stick penalty. Then Joseph took a run and dive at a ref. I thought "I've got to keep watching this sport."

  10. You have to see your first couple of games live just to get the feeling for it.  It is a lot easier to understand a game as you watch it and can ask questions.  by your name I'm assuming you are in Louisiana.  The closest team to you I could find is in Biloxi, Mississippi.  The are a part of the ECHL (minor league).  There is also an AHL but they are predominatly in the NE, as well as the NHL where you maybe able to go to a Dallas Stars or Nashville Predators game.  The south is coming around to hockey and there are a few "clubs" at the local ice arenas.  I live in Alabama and can drive up to Huntsville to see minor league hockey and UA has a club team that I keep an eye on.

  11. watching...

  12. I watched the hurricanes make their cup run in 2006- then started playing hockey. I could already skate though.

  13. My dad was a Rangers fan back when my mom and dad lived in New York.  Then they moved to New Jersey and my dad became a Devils fan because he was living in Jersey now (he wasn't a big Rangers fan to begin with).  Then he got my brother into hockey, and my brother played roller hockey and street hockey, then ice hockey.  I went to his games, and became a fan.  Winning the Stanley Cup in 2000 and 2003 really made me a bigger fan.

  14. My dad decided to be a great dad and force me to watch wings games when i was lil and here i am... a die-hard wings fan!

  15. lived on a lake, played pond hockey with my dad fell in love with it

  16. I live in Toronto. Like they say, Toronto is the heart and soul of hockey, in Canada. Not just that, we talk about NHL so much in our school that it's just unbelievable. You have to like Hockey from you heart really to be a 'true' hockey fan.

  17. By watching games and following league results and discussing the results with some friends.

  18. If you watch one game, you'll be hooked. That's what happened to me, and now I'm addicted. I was 7. I wish I had the money to play, but it's waaay too expensive.

  19. It was offored as a sport at school so I gave it a go

  20. I saw one game and I realized that I loved the sport

  21. I have played pickup hockey, but only to be sociable - otherwise, I have no interest in it.

  22. watching......and because my nation is in it (pakistan)

  23. You don't have to play hockey to become interested.  I never played before and follow hockey quite a bit.  It helped that where I lived had a minor league team and as the players got called up to the NHL, I had players I could follow.
