When hurricane Katrina hit, We were told, ‘its clear sign of what we could expect to come from gw. We can expect it to only get worse, with huge loses due to these massive storms that occur as a result of GW.

But when the next three years pass and hurricanes are almost non-existent, and these same scientist are asked about this, they shrug and seem perplexed as they say, ‘uneducated lot, can’t tell the difference between GW and the weather.’

So my question is this, Is it only harsh conditions that = GW and everything else that occurs = weather? Please help us poor dummies understand your logic.

  1. It's believed that warmer waters and air will intensify storms (with uncertainty remaining in global warming's effect on hurricane frequency and tracks)[1]. For example, the 2007 Atlantic Hurricane Season saw two category 5 hurricanes make landfall (Hurricanes Dean and Felix). This is the first time that this has happened within one season since we've started categorizing hurricanes.[2]

But to answer your question: No one single weather event can be attributed to climate change; however, global warming can be expected to make certain weather events more likely. "Global Warming" is not the best term for what is happening, and "Climate Change" is not much better. A more appropriate term would be "Global Climate Weirdness".

  2. There's no way to really convince someone who has already made up their mind. If you don't think people are changing the climate, then asking on an Internet message board won't fix it.

I charge you to look at all the c**p we've put into the environment, and if you're seious about investigating the issue you should read "The World Without Us" by Alan Weisman.
