Or will they just release you? What if it was obvious you were faking being racist?

  1. I thought perjury was lying to the court. So, wouldn't they have to prove you were lying then? If the court case involves a different race than yours, they might release you. But if it is a court case involving all whites or all blacks, then maybe not. There is a large chance you won't get picked anyway. For example, if you have friends or family that are military or police, that's sometimes an issue. They ask you certain questions depending on the case. If it's a drunk driving case, they might ask if anyone has a family member that's been hurt by a drunk driver, etc. I guess if you were trying to get out of it you could answer the opposite of what you think they are looking for. I was glad when I was picked for the jury on an assault case. It was nice to be out of work and very interesting.

  3. perjury is unlikely, but contempt of court is more likely, and it sounds appropriate for the circumstance you describe.

  4. That would probably fall under the category of contempt of court. You probably will be dismissed and also go to jail.

  5. You could probably be charged with contempt of court for faking, however, if you are just honest, most of the time you can be excused from a jury during selection.
