  1. No, it would not help at all.

You may have heard of the show "Mythbusters." Check out their website. They did a show concerning helium once, and it basically answers your questions.

  2. Minimal at best.  I can't recall the exact #'s, but 200 cf will lift around 5 lbs.

  3. maybe

  4. Not really...

The additional structuring required to contain the light gases would negate the effects any buoyant lift produced by the hydrogen/helium. In fact it might even prove to be counterproductive.

  5. No. Answer this question and it will illustrate why. Assuming  you get  it correct.

If you put two basketballs in a vacuum and leave one empty and fill the other with helium, which basket ball will weigh more. Careful now.

  6. The passenger compartment would be the biggest space. Hydrogen would blow up with the flick of a light switch or some other spark source.

Helium in that section would have everyone talking like a cross between the Alvin the chipmunk and Donald Duck. Is that what you really want?

ADDED: Ohhh, I guess someone likes Donald Duck or Alvin. Sorry, didn't mean to offend the likes of you.

  7. No, you couldn't put enough in there to make any difference.  The other serious problem is that both are toxic.  You can't expose passengers and crew to either.  Thirdly, hydrogen is highly flammable and, unless kept in a sturdy container, would leak into areas where it'd be exposed to electrical or mechanical sparks, and your airplane suddenly becomes a comet - a very bright, colorful, flaming comet.  Like, it go KA-BLOOEY!....

  8. I'm sorry. It just seems a dumb idea. I mean make your choice. Planes.....or blimps

  9. How it could help?

Keep in your mind, if that is possible, it will be extremely dagerous!!!
