I have an AABA and I was told that I must have an Associates before I can get a Bachelors. But at my local college the Bachelors for elementary teachers is a 4 year program. Does anyone know if this time will be cut since I have an Associates Degree already?

  1. Most likely, some or all of the courses you took to earn your Associates will cover some of the requirements for a Bachelors.  It depends upon the University; so contact them.

  2. When you apply to the 4 year college - the education department will let you know which credits from your AA will apply to your BA program. Often there are basic overlapping courses that are counted automatically - So yes, it wont take you 4 years.

  3. This is what i did.  I sat and watched all of my friends who were ele. ed. majors struggle with papers and having to pass certain tests in order to take certain classes and were forever graduating.  I on the other hand was a business major.  I got my degree in 4 year (I went to a community college first also).  In some states you can take the Praxis 1 and 2 with a bach. degree.  take 2 more college courses in the "Masters" program and still be able to teach in no time flat.  If you want more info contact me at joanmyles@att.net
