If you are a manager of a bank,what you will to incentive and motivate your staff? explain?

Well people always appreciate your telling them what a good job they are doing. Bosses do not do enough of that. How about some contests? Like we have contests at work and the winner gets a gift card for some place. It may sound too simple but it keeps us occupied and happy.

What is the goal? New customers? More efficient? I would have like an "outstanding employee" of the month who is recognized for his/her dedication and rewarded with a gift card or something. Or if it is for the whole staff as a team, would suggest a catered lunch or some type of get togehter at a restaurant as a reward.
