If you are a medical coder, could you please describe a typical work day?

I am seriously thinking about going back to school and the field of medical coding seems a good choice, pay and employment wise. Could you describe a work day and the different duties you have throughout the day?

Well..... After getting experienced, you can typically remember the most commonly used codes... So you look through the charts, find diagnoses, and assign codes to them. Enter them into the system.... I also get a lot of phone calls of different departments in the hospital asking what the code is for something, so they can assign it when they have to enter it themselves for x-rays, etc. ... Plus sometimes we get calls dealing with people's insurance.... That's pretty much it! Haha sounds boring, but it's really not. It interests me to read about what is wrong with people, and figure out all of their problems!
