  1. If a Yukozuno were running, no. If he were standing still and a rugby player was bolting at him, yes.

  2. Could you tackle them?  Chances are that you would get demolished by them.  Despite what the previous posts said, sumo wrestlers are very mobile and very strong to be able to move their body weight at the speeds they do.

They crouch down like an offensive lineman and it will make it very hard for you to make a legal, wrapping tackle that is required in rugby.

Even if you are a huge guy, the average Yukozuno champion will out weight you by 200-300 lbs.  Even a person that size who is not strong is very hard for others to move due to the sheer size and weight behind them.

My above example is if they are running at you head on.

  3. theres two ways of tackling in rugby. the first is by grabbing the ball carrier by the body and bringing them down using your own weight, and stopping them passing the ball. This, i suspect wouldnt even make a Sumo wobble, let alone fall. However, the second method is to wrap ones arms around the ball carriers legs, he would then fall.... an old adage says that no matter how big you are, you cant run with no legs......

  4. Of course.  Wise man say: "Even big man stumble over small stone." You will absolutely be crushed but hit below the hips, wrap at the legs, and let his momentum do the rest.

  5. Yukozuno wouldn't get far on a rugby field and if he were running at full speed he could be taken down very easily.

  6. It would be as easy to tackle him ,as it would be for  him to swat you out of the ring

  7. no

  8. Two words "ankle-tap"

    why get crushed????

Size and speed are not the keys, there are whole arts based on that idea (such as Aikido, and Judo which was made famous when a little person threw a giant of that sort in a match in Japan)  it is all about technique!

With that as a foundation the answer has to be YES! (if the technique is correct)

  9. Easily. A sumo wrestler has no mobility.
