If you are a us citizen, do most jobs overseas require that you have a certificate of citizenship or is a pass

port sufficient? I got my certificate stolen not too long ago, and am looking for a job in japan within half a year. It will take me about a year to get a replacement certificate of citizenship.

  1. They shold not ... ! but if they do use your pasport as proof or brith certificate


  2. I believe they just go with passport. You can't get a passport without a birth certificate. Besides go to the office in the city you were born and obtain a copy and make sure to notify someone that someone stole your birth certificate. Put an alert on your social security and credit report because that certificate will be sold off to an illegal for papers to obtain a fake social to get work. Good luck to you.

    Try posting this in the Japan section. There's a lot of foreigners living there with good jobs and they can better answer your question.
