Question:

If you are against abortion, are you also against the morning after pill?

My friend and I were talking about it today and I thought the morning after pill was like an emergency abortion the day after s*x in case of pregnancy. But they told me it's not, it's just a birth control pill and its not like aborting a baby. What are your feelings on it?

  1. i believe it is. i dont know to much on it but i am 100% against abortion so i would obv never do the morning after pill. you should use protection so you dont have to result to either one.

  2. The morning after pill (just like the regular birth control pill) can in fact prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.  You could have conceived, but you would never know it.  You would just have your period like always and never know that the egg had been fertilized.

I'm pro choice, but I just thought I would put my two cents in.  If you are in fact against abortion in any way, shape, or form, the morning after pill definitely isn't an option that would mesh with your beliefs, and hormonal birth control (Iike the pill or the patch) probably isn't, either.

  3. The morning after pill's purpose is to prevent an already fertilized egg from implanting on the uterine wall, ie, a VERY early abortion. Birth control CAN (very unlikely, but possibly) do this as well. So can an IUD...

  4. i do not like abortion but my thoughts on the morning after pill is that it is saying its ok to be irresponsible and have unprotected s*x with no consequences i believe the std rate will be going up because of it...i don't know if i necessarily think its on the same level as abortion other than it is an easy way out instead of stepping up and accepting the fate you created,

  5. It's not an abortion, because sperm might not have even reached the egg. I took plan B like 4 1/2 years ago when my fiance and I had been together about 6 months and the condom broke. I loved him, but we were scared and didn't want children. I don't know if I was fertile at the time the condom broke, but I took the "morning after" pill and I had a bad reaction. I had a very very heavy period that lasted non-stop over a month and one morning I woke up with blood all over my bed, I stood up and it was running down my legs, all over the floor. It was scary and I don't think I'd ever take it again. I'd recommend birth control first, because that was scary. Also, if you were fertile at the time of taking it and did become pregnant (and the pill didn't work), your baby could be born with birth defects.

  6. The morning after pill ACTUALLY prevents a fertilized egg from IMPLANTING itself in the uterine lining by prematurely causing it to shed (or get your period early).

It does not prevent an egg from being fertilized.

Honestly in this world of modern birth control, why are people still using abortion and this morning after pill as a form of birth control!

Get on the pill people, and completely prevent fertilization!

I can understand in cases of rape or incest, but for those of you actively having s*x, get on the pill, diaphram, condom... something other than abortion!

  7. The morning after pill actually prevents the sperm from fertilizing the egg. You aren't killing an unborn baby like you would with an abortion.

  8. I think the morning after pill is ok. However I don't think it should be used as a form of birth control. It should only be used if there was truly an accident.

  9. Not anymore than the pill or the shot would be. It prevents your body from becoming pregnant, it doesn't kill the child. It's as much an abortion as getting your tubes tied.

(Sorry if some people misunderstood this, I do NOT think it's the same as abortion)

  10. ive took the morning after pill but never had a abortion there is a difference
