  1. Chickens and turkeys do not belong to the same family.

Chickens are part of the Phasianidae (Pheasant) family.  Other birds to in this family are Cornish hens, quail, and peacock.  You may want to avoid eggs of these other birds, too.  Shouldn't be too hard. ;-)

Turkeys are part of the Meleagrididae family.  There are only three species of true turkeys, and they make up the whole family.

We eat turkey every four or five days in our house.  It's a great alternative to chicken!  Other fowl to try are duck and goose.

Don't get overwhelmed!  There are many others who have had to cut out a lot of common foods from their diets.  Take a look at my website:  http://www.beyond-food-allergies.com/

A cookbook I use a lot is The Allergy Self-Help Cookbook.  It has all the information about food families, and lots of recipes for people with multiple food allergies.  Check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Allergy-Self-Help-...

    Hope this helps!

  2. I think you probably would be, along with other bird meat such as pheasant, duck, and ostrich.  I am allergic to chicken and turkey.  You will need to read the labels on hot dogs, lunch meat, and even sausage.  Even some pizzas contain chicken!

  3. Chicken and turkey are two different foods.

So I don't think he should be...
