If you are born in USA but lived your entire life in England, are you American?

I am an American Citizen by birth, but when I was 6, my parents took me to England and I lived there until now which is 30 years old. I am going back to America to live permanently. If people ask me where I am from, shall I say I am American?

  1. you are american citizen, it just that you grow up in England. does what it is, and yes you are an American.


  2. You are an American citizen by birth and unless you change it, it will remain that way.  You are entitled to all of the benefits of being an American.  You can live here for only a year, then go back to England and you will still be an American citizen.

  5. Go to the US Embassy in ENGLAND, provide your birth cerficate and get yourself a US Passport and travel with it.

    Simple.  Americans have all kinds of accent these days so your British Accent will not matter.

    You can say whatever you want to, but

    "i'm American but i've been living in England" won't confuse anyone.
