  1. platnium is the better metal. most jewelers allow you to pick out a ring & once you rpopose bring it back incase she doesnt like it. i would go w/platnium then if she doesnt like it, take it back.

  2. There is no specific tradition on what it has to be. Yellow gold is more popular still, but popularity doesn't matter, it's whatever works for you. But, if she typically wears yellow gold, then that's probably what you should get her. Good luck!

  3. You should probably yellow gold because she wears it so that's a sign to you that she prefers yellow gold. Although it doesn't matter it can be white gold, platinum, or anything for that matter.

Good luck and congratulations on your up coming engagement.

  4. A wedding ring is traditionally gold, but now days there is so much variety! Now there are so many beautiful white gold and platinum alternatives - but before this, they were always yellow gold! Weddings rings are not "supossed" to be any colour. So if you want to go yellow gold, then go yellow gold!

The fashion "rule of thumb" is to not mix colours, ie not wear white gold with yellow gold - you are supossed to stick with one colour. So in your girlfriends case I would go yellow gold seeing as she is obviously a yellow gold person.

However, this isnt set in stone and many people mix and match, its all up to the girl. What does your girlfriend like? I know for myself, I am the oposite of your grilfriend - yellow gold does NOT suit me. I am white gold or silver all the way. So I know I would have never liked a yellow gold engagement ring, because I don't wear or like yellow gold. What does your girlfriend normally wear? Is it always yellow gold, or does she mix it up with white gold or silver sometimes? Most people are either gold or silver people - ie all the jewellery they get is either one colour or the other. From my point of view, your girlfriend sounds like she is a gold girl - in which case I would buy her a yellow gold ring

  5. If she wears gold then get her that color. I think it looks bad when people don't match. The new trend is to not get gold but if thats what she wants then get her gold! She must like it if she wears it!!

  6. Why dont you "accidentally" end up in a jewelry store w/ her and ask her opinon. If not and yellow gold is what she wears then I think you would be safe to buy her a yellow gold engagement ring. Good luck!!!!

  7. Yes, if she always wears yellow gold then I would buy a yellow gold engagement ring to fit with her style. Many women wear white gold or silver jewellery which is why there are so many white gold and platinum engagement rings available- that doesn't mean that engagement rings are "supposed" to be that colour- they can be made of any type of metal you like.

  8. If you know she's wearing yellow gold, buy yellow gold rings - they are totally classic.

  9. it doesn't matter!  i've seen all sorts of rings.  traditionally they are yellow gold.  but get her whatever you think she would like - maybe take along her mom or her best friend.

  10. you should worry more about whether she's going to say yes.

  11. If she wears all yellow gold than that is an indicator of her personal taste, so I would find something in that metal type.

  12. yes, get her yellow gold since she wears it alot that probly means she likes it alot too.

and any kind of gold is always good for an engagement ring too, no matter what type/color.

yes, definetly get her gold cause if a was getting engaged and it wasnt gold i would be extremley dissapointed.

  13. Engagement rings or Wedding rings it doesnt mattter...Well I being the uberfemme would say totally up to what you think matches your girl best. You should be trying to please her that is your job. She is going to wear it every day as a sign of your devotion, love and admiration. IF you do not know what to match with her yet you better start paying attention.  She is currently wearing either white or yellow gold or possibly silver. Silver is cheap and gaudy, so rule it out. IF you want to match her current earings, watch or her necklaces white gold goes with everything but if she is attracted to yellow gold and wearing that try to match that. You have to pay attention to her not you. Platinum is very expensive if you can afford it you should buy it for her so she knows you are working hard to please her and going the extra dollars for her. But there is no shame in gold. Mostly 14k is fine. Do NOT buy 10k gold you will be considered a low life.  Now...my husband bought me a wonderful 2ct diamond I wear yellow mostly so he knew that was what matched with most my things and i think its classic.  So if she is a classic girl you go with girl, if she is a trendy girl I would suggest white gold or platinum. I want you to think about her not you. That is your job. Asking in this forum is your debasing your knowledge of her and I want you to start focusing on what she is currently wearing, what kind of person she is so you can show her with the ring gesture that you are worthy of her attention in return. You would want her to notice your likes and dislikes woulnd't you? There...now good. You dont have to have a fortune there are plenty of reputable places for you to buy your diamond. If you dont have much money my pick is this place my husband got mine there are many to chooose from but dont make this into a science project. You know her and if you don't start learning fast.

  14. an engagement ring can be plastic... it's what YOU pick out, or what SHE likes. there's no wrong or right metal.
