If you are charged with destruction of personal properrty what will happen?

There was a jet ski that was messed with and a gascan was burned. My friend is getting scared of what could happen to him. the people are trying to charge him with destruction of personal property and arson.

In our state it is a felony and you can get time (up to 10 years depending on amount, and previous criminal record) and fined.  The fine in our state is usually like 3 times the amount of destruction value.  He should get a lawyer, or consult with one.  He should not talk to them without one.
