I need a reliable internet connection particularly, we can't use a service that just dumps us out randomly. We hardly use the land line. I'm seriously miffed with BT at the moment. We need to keep our phone number too.

  1. Thanks for this i wasn't sure if i was the only one. Seriously p***ed at them, high charges, lousy customer service. I posted same question and got TalkTalk as a possible, looking into now. One guy said he pays 20 per month for whole package.

  2. Talk Talk / carphone warehouse ,

    they really good and cheap

  3. sky is very good but i am afraid you have to have BT line is because BT is a monopoly control all lines in UK and is must of the requirements to have Internet or you can have telewest but is a little more expensive

  4. Unless you go to cable, you will still have a line owned by BT Openreach.  BT Retail have to rent the line off of BT Openreach as will whoever you use.

  5. so your having problems too, i was going to move to virgin it's slightly cheaper too but bt wont let me until my 12 months is up. i even had to go out and buy my own security cos theres kept going wrong. wouldnt mind but im still paying for it

  6. I would love to know this too - BT have really p**sed me off lately!

    xx

  7. Have a good look around.  Every company will have it's faults, at least by asking you'll have a better idea.

BT DON'T own the lines anymore.  There are companies out there who can provide a line, even from scratch i.e. new build.  However, for many of the companies this is not cost effective, for them to offer services at the price they do.

We were with AOL for about three years, until they started lying to us, and had no problems.  But my mother-in-law had a few problems with them to begin with.

  8. I know that they have been bad-mouthed on here lately but I have found Virgin media excellent and good value for money.  Their customer services have been very helpful and have even refunded more than the cost of the call when I had a query about the internet set-up disc.

  9. Virgin media!

  10. wouldnt go with virgin there c**p.

  11. sky  is good it cut our bills down, also the sky package with tv broadband and phone is very good hope this helps x

  12. I used to be with AOL and they were c**p, i'm now with SKY and they are really good, i'm on the mid package and the net only costs £5 a month.

  13. vigin media

  14. bet you wished you never asked, sky if you have sky TV.

Talk talk not to bad but i finished up going back to BT but with regrets.

  15. sky tv

  16. Dont use Sky - the internet service they provide is rubbish. It has lots of faults that aren't being fixed. When I was choosing my supplier I check forums to see what other people thought. It depends on how heavy a user you are, how much downloading you do etc so shop around and ask other people. Im with Zen which is expensive but its fast and haven't had any problems so far and got a very large download limit.
