Here in florida they mainly do school choice in order to see which school you will go to. I chose the school i wanted and unfortunately there is a waiting list. I'm number 15 and school starts monday (18th) They are sending me allllllll the way to another school about 1 hour from my house. They have no bus services to get me to the school and my parents work very early in the morning. The closest bus stop is in the next neighborhood over and I would have to walk at 5 in the morning which my mom and dad will not allow due to a previous problem with my sister. She was stopped by a car and almost taken.

Is there any chance this can be used against school choice in kind of forcing me to go to the school of my choice? The one im on the waiting list for. My parents could transport me there and back and I have lots of friends there.

please just give me some tips on if i should even show up on the first day because it will not work out with the whole bus situation. My mom is willing to do anything to get me into the school of my choice

im sorry if this question is confusing but im just really stressed out over this whole thing :'(

thanks to any answer, it will be appreciated

  1. I would go to the school that you want to go to tomorrow and try to enroll/transfer over there. And if it's the closest school near you then tell them that, tell them about the whole situation and they should let you go to that school. Is it over crowded? What city do you live in, I live in Florida also and might know what area you're in. You can also take online classes if you have no way to the school that is one hour away from you, or you can't get into the school that is near you. I'm taking all of my classes online at Florida Virtual School so I can get caught up and graduate this year, and it's free. Just an alternative if it doesn't work out.

  2. If you choose a school other than the school for your area, you must provide your own transportation.

If you go to the school for your area, they provide transportation.  You didn't say what grade you are.  I think that has a lot to do with how far the bus will be from your home.

  3. I would call the school or the school choice office. They might be able to help you.
