1. My boyfriend is from America too, and I know that one day I will have to make the move to the US because he loves where he lives too much, but it's good for me because personally I hate the town where I currently live and I'd love to move somewhere different (I love new places and travelling).

A lot of people I know would hate to live there, not because of the places but because of the people and the government. In their opinion it's a great place to visit, because it's so alien from Europe and there's a lot to do there, but not to live.

In the end, each person is different. Some people love to spread their wings, others get attatched to home. Your fiance could be scared because he's moving away from his family/friends and lifestyle - not an easy thing to do for everybody. But, since you two love each other, as long as you're together you should be happy. If he is scared, reassure him that he can visit his friends/family throughout the time he is there, or even they can come and visit you both.

  2. Been there (and there) and done it all. My husband (yes husband) and I have been married for 12 years...5 years UK and 7 in US.

There are pros and cons no matter where you go, but for us it has worked knowing that we can make the move back and forth...and depending on the outcome of the next pres election we may be going back across the pond.

The Uk is just great when children enter the picture and if public (or free) school is what you are leaning toward the UK is way better! We now have children are contemplating our choices.
