  1. Not from Toronto myself but am Canadian spent many years going there to visit and do business. Toronto is the biggest Canadian city. It's alot like U.S.A. city's. There is a lot to do there like, clubs, major league sports. Friends will come easily even being American. Most Canadians have good feelings about American People [me for one] As a young person spent lot's of summers in the Eastern States. Also Toronto is a fast paced city. And you are very close to Montreal [my favorite city reminds you of being in Europe and you don't have to speak French but it would help] I'm a Maritimer from Saint John New Brunswick [born and raised] but now live in Winnipeg Manitoba. If you like big cities you will love Toronto[ I living in Winnipeg which is only a population of half a million is to big for me I love the Atlantic Sea Shore and over all you will find the most freindly people who would great Americans with open arms.

Over all you should like where ever you decide to live in Canada. You just have to decide what area you would feel good in.

If you come to Canada WECOME!

And if not thanks for being a great neighbour.

  2. I am actually American like passport wise but I've lived in Toronto longer that I've lived anywhere else and yeah I would say people are generally ok with Americans, like no one has been rude to me for that reason, but then again I am only American on paper because I moved out of the US when I was a really little kid, so I don't have the superiority complex (or at least I hope I don't) that accompanies most people that have spent their whole life in the States. People just assume I was born in Toronto unless I tell them otherwise, and most people just assume it and never even ask, so I don't bother to tell. I am not really proud to be an American anymore with the way people treat each other over there. And with the ignorance about the rest of the world. I say I'm from Toronto when I go there, and they look at me like "where the h**l is that?". I don't bother telling them it's in Canada.

People in the US are generally kind of strange towards people of my race, I've noticed. It's strange. But then again, I've only been there a few times on vacation (forced by my parents), each time desperately counting down the days until I can come back to Toronto.

Anyway, it's a great city, I am going to university here even though my family moved away again. So I made the decision to stay even though I had the option of moving to the States. I prefer it to the States. There you go. Move there...here. You won't regret it. Seriously, though, if you don't like it then just move back, but really, I can't think of a better city to live in!

Plus I'm Indian, like "brown" lol, and people are just so like culturally accepting. There are so many different cultures/races of people, and it is nothing short of amazing. I have friends from all different races, religions, and backgrounds. It's just so great I can't even begin to describe it lol.

Sometime this year I am planning to run a test. Walk down University between Queen and College with normal clothes and see how many people look at me. Then wear Indian clothes (salvar) and see how many people look at me. I am guessing, honestly, that the number won't change. I know this is kind of off-topic but my point is that it is amazing that people are so accepting of so many different races. I seriously doubt that anyone will stare at me walking around with traditional Indian clothing. I'm gonna wear it to uni one day, lol. Better do it during the summer or I'll freeze my *** off. Anyway, the city is just great and that is why I am planning to never move away...

But that's just me. It's up to you whether or not you want to move here...

  3. I live about an hour and a half from toronto, i love it there

its a very big and lively city! so much to do

canadians as a general dont really care about americans.  we dont hate them but we're not crazy about them.  but being an american and coming to canada is definetly NOT a bad thing.  we're very friendly and loving unless you start talking bad about our military and how we're americas 53rd state or whatever then we tend to get defensive

but other that, toronto is amazing and so are the people.  amazing shopping i must add hehe

if your moving here, then i believe a welcome is an order! :)

    hollyy

  4. I live in Toronto, it's like a smaller, safer, nicer, friendlier, less busier version of New York City. So basically it's better (my opinion at least). And it's not like the UK where they don't like Americans and aren't very friendly, Canada, especially Toronto is very diverse and accepts all races and cultures. We're just open.
