Study Links Gene Variant in Men to Marital Discord

Men are more likely to be devoted and loyal husbands when they lack a particular variant of a gene that influences brain activity, researchers announced yesterday -- the first time that science has shown a direct link between a man's genes and his aptitude for monogamy.

  1. I would be fore it if you agree that women be tested for fertility.

Also, what gene accounts for the fact that women cheat just as much?

  2. No it's a load of rubbish

  3. if i wanna marry him, than he passed the most important test for me.

i would not want him tested for this gene.

  4. Ha ha.

What happened to the common sense?

And are you willing to pay 7000+ ?

  5. if my girlfriend asked me to take this test i would dump her...this is coming from a man who has never cheated on a woman.  You need to be able to trust your potential husband,, and if you ask him to take a test liek this your saying you don't trust him.  Also, What if it comes back saying he has the bad gen, would you break up with him?  He could be a great guy that just happens to have a bad gean.  It doesn't not mean he will cheat on you, it means he's more likely to.  there is still a huge chance he wont.

  6. I do not feel that in every case a genetic test is required for the groom. From his talk and interaction for half an hour, a girl can make out the result for herself.

  7. Correlations does not equal causation!

You would only judge based on a DNA test if you were a silly genetic determinist.

  8. This study hasn't been found to be conclusive yet.  Thus I wouldn't advise ordering any tests.

  9. Well, I think that's all very well as far as it goes, but the fact is that marital discord can be caused by a lot of things other than lack of monogamy.  Nobody could be more devoted and monogamous than my husband for instance, but our relationship has been very stormy over the years, though gradually getting on better, because of other clashes of personality that have nothing to do with monogamy or the lack thereof.

having a loyal and monogamous husband is very nice, but it won't necessarily solve all your problems.

  10. You can generally tell when people are selfish by how they act around others.  You don't need a genetic test.  Just pay attention.

  11. This is utter bull, they are trying to blame everything on genetics these days.

People make, and this might sound like a foreign word in the world today: *CHOICES*

  12. It's pretty easy to figure out whether a man is going to cause relationship discord just by dating him for a few weeks. No gene test necessary.

  13. No...You might find out that while being monogamous, he is also as boring as dry bread.  OOOO goody.  Past behavior is the greatest predictor of future behavior.  Take a look at history.

  14. You don't need a gene test to figure this out. Men like this are very easy to spot.  Just avoid any alpha male or "man's man" and you've succeeded in avoiding a crappy mate.

  15. I wonder if that gene only affects marriage and monogamy. If you have the chance to get married grap it, because all the good men are taken or g*y ;)
