It is a 2003 Mustang GT - so rear wheel drive. I have heard it both ways, one keep it in because it will put more weight on the back wheels to help get more traction, and take it out because it will make the car lighter, so which way is it?

  1. more traction so your wheels don't bounce the car.  it's a GT so it has the power to race with a spare in the back..

  2. Take it out.

If you notice your tires only slips for few feet.  But after that the extra weight still slow the car down.

    Good Luck...

  3. take it out a spare tire will not make any significance

  4. Take it out and you'll probs be a little faster. Anyway its not like your going to need it.

Polish up and good luck =)

  5. take it out

  6. The less weight you have in the car the better! If your gonna race, you should know how to handle your car. If your not comfortable with it, then maybe you shouldnt race.

  7. leave it in. traction in the long run will give you the advantage rather then light weight. the tire isnt enough weight to make that big of a diffrence in the first place though.

  8. bring it with you but take it out at the track you never know when you will need it.. and if you need more traction. let air out to about 35lbs or 10lbs soften the tires we do it at the track

  9. i'd leave it in, 40 more pounds of traction is better than being 40 pounds lighter in the rear.  (unless you're my wife).  HAHAHAHA.

  10. Take out the spare and the jack and the lug wrench and the back seat cushion and all the junk in your trunk....use the hp for speed not for hauling dead weight.

  11. Take it out.  Unless, of course, you are planning on getting a flat at the 1/8th marker.
