  1. Well, if you're the host seems reasonable enough that you pay.

  2. Hi there, why not do a kind of "pot luck" where you host it and everyone brings something? This spreads the costs around. Or you could all agree to have you pay for everything and split the costs by the number of people.  If you are getting together, I would assume these are all friends and you could suggest these options without offending anyone. It is expensive to entertain and absorb the entire cost. Check my website www.celebrationideasonline.com. go to Family Fun and check out the Fiesta Theme Party. I did exactly that and everyone was more than happy to share in bringing something. I did all the fun stuff! good luck .. hope it goes well.

  3. u cud hav a potluck and then you wouldn't have to pay for food.

  4. Normally the host provides everything unless noted in the invitation.

    - You can ask people to bring a dish if you need food.

    - You can assign a course (have certain people bring bread,

appetizer, dessert, etc). Hand specify in each invite.

    - You can ask people to provide their own alcohol (don't

       know your age)

But I wouldn't expect anyone to bring anything unless you ask them to. Good guests will RSVP and ask if they should bring anything. If you're looking to unload some work - take their offer!!

Hosting sounds fun but can be some serious work sometimes. If you haven't already done the invites, I would try to get some help from the guests.

If you want to do it all yourself, keep it simple - do a BBQ theme with burgers and hot dogs, chips, potato salad, etc.. Or don't go with a full meal and do finger foods and appetizers like shrimp cocktail, pigs in a blanket, small cut sandwiches, etc.

  5. Well whoever is inviting should be the one to pay for the meal. But if the host isnt able to pay for the whole thing then make sure to say that its a PYOM type party (Pay Your Own Meal party)...

  6. usually the host will provide food or snacks. if you want, you can ask people to bring something with them. If there is alcohol involved, you may also choose to provide or say up to the people attending whether they would like to bring it or not...aka...BYOB...

  7. My experience has always been that, even if guests are asked to "bring a dish", the responsibility still falls on the host to make sure there's enough food for everybody -- and also a full variety of food.  Being the host definitely costs more and involves a lot more work -- even if your guests help out by bringing stuff.
