  1. I've been on a jury and yes there will be an opportunity to ask to be excused.

If you have a REAL reason like family obligations or health ... so be it.

But don't bail out on this just because you don't want to do it!

Civic duty, its good for you.

  2. Yes, if you have a legitimate reason, you might be excused, it depends on the judge and the case.

  3. when you go to the court for the first time, you will be in a large room with a lot of other people who are also selected for jury duty for that specific case, the judge and lawyers of both sides will be asking questions to see if you are the right person for the case, you will be excused if they believe you are prejudiced toward a side. this is also the time you provide a legitimate reason to be excused, for example you are a student and school is in session.

however, jury duty will be a great experience for everyone, you will not regret it once you served on a jury.

  4. I told them I automatically assume that the guy is guilty, and Iam always released fro jury duty, works everytime

  5. They have a screening process where they will ask your for legitimate reasons for you to not be there long before you would have been selected. They don't want to make a bad choice in jurors that will cause a case to be compromised.

  6. You will have a chance to ask to be excused long before you are picked as part of a twelve man jury.
