I am relying on someone to promote a project for me and even though they keep talking about doing it, in my opinion, they haven't taken the steps to do it.

Without alienating them, how can I respectfully ask them to start taking action?

I have already written what I think is a reasonable letter outlining how I have kept up my end of the bargain and that I would like them to take action as they promised.

We have a contract and this person earns a certain percentage of the final amount once the project goes through, therefore, there seems to be no incentive for them except the hope that the project will make money.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? If so, how did you handle it.

  1. Lisa I don't know you or what you look like but in some cases people do things like that because maybe they want to be closer to you. If they string you out they get a chance to talk to you whatever.

Now let's assume that isn't the case.

When I would contract with a organization to do work I had to have a rep on the board push the contract through because it was unfeasible to be there personally.

I found that there almost always was one person that drove what that board thought or did. If my guy wasn't THAT guy I was almost always doomed. I always had to work through that person once I found out who it was. I never stepped on my guys toes but I needed the wolf not the sheep if you get my drift.

Lisa there are far more sheep then wolves. Your person looks and acts every bit the sheep. They talk the big story then walk over the cliff with the rest of the sheep.

I'm afraid if you can't get him to introduce you to the people that can start the ball rolling you have to move on. You aren't going to change this person from eating grass to red meat.

While some people are money motivated many are not. You can see how if they did there job how everyone could make money. He obv isn't interested in that.

I'm going to recommend a book by a guy named Tom Hopkins. He's very similar to Zig Ziegler. Sorry about the spelling. These two guys can really give you insight on the best way to approach people like this guy.

I have a feeling that at the end of the day you will be shaking hands with this guy and moving on without them.

    I wish you the best
