I have a friend who was unjustly "let go" from a store which shall remain nameless. She asked that her paycheck be mailed to her. They refused. My question is is that legal?

  1. Are they saying she doesn't have a last paycheck?  That's very odd, I can't see why a stamp and an envelope would matter that much to them.  She may just have to go pick it up.

  2. they have to give her the paycheck but they do not necessarily have to spend the 42 cents to mail it to her. but if she goes in the store to pick it up then they have to give it to her. she earned the money so she deserves it.

  3. No they can't just not pay you.  The same thing had happened to me when I quit a job.  They were not going to give me my last check.  I called the Better Business Bureau and they said they have to pay you.
