  1. The usual. Money and power.

Carbon credits are a great way to fool people into giving ever more free money, and of course, Liberals are ALL about garnering power over others, after all, don't they know better than YOU what YOU need?

  2. The founder of the Weather Channel wants to sue Al Gore for fraud, hoping a legal debate will settle the global-warming debate once and for all.

John Coleman, who founded the cable network in 1982, suggests suing for fraud proponents of global warming, including Al Gore, and companies that sell carbon credits.

"Is he committing financial fraud? That is the question," Coleman said.

"Since we can't get a debate, I thought perhaps if we had a legal challenge and went into a court of law, where it was our scientists and their scientists, and all the legal proceedings with the discovery and all their documents from both sides and scientific testimony from both sides, we could finally get a good solid debate on the issue," Coleman said. "I'm confident that the advocates of 'no significant effect from carbon dioxide' would win the case.

  3. i believe its just another persons point of view, an others theory. Anything is possible! So i just think they are expressing a theory they feel strongly about!

  4. I don't think global warming is a lie. The world is changing so much due to all the new technology. The weather has definietly changed.

  5. Lot's of things

    1. Money - 30 years ago, you could fit all the climate specialist in a small room. Now, there are billions being spent on a theory. Scientist are able to get large grants that normally would not be available. And look at the IPCC. It was created for the sole purpose of blaming man for warming. If the IPCC comes out and claims man is not the problem, the IPCC would have to close it's doors the next day. Also, corporations are looking to cash in. An energy efficient light bulb costs 6 times as much as a normal bulb. Solar panels, wind mill farms, etc are not being built by Mom and Pop. Major corps are collecting government hand outs to build products which are not highly desired. I would be OK with this, except the only way these corps can afford to build these items are through government gifts. The market should drive innovation, not government.

    2. Political Agenda - The socialist/leftist have a cause which directly targets America and the capitalist markets. The environmental groups have been inundated with the left wing advocates. They are even driving out many of the real environmentalist. Go to any "Green" rally or other related (anti-war) rally and ask where you can get communist/socialist information. They know just where to point you.

    3. Main Stream Media - The main stream media pushes anything liberal. The more liberal the better for them. Notice how the media presents only one side of the issue. Never do they have on the "deniers". Did anyone even know there was a major convention this week with over 500 scientist, etc who disagree with AGW? No? Maybe this was something the news should have covered. I bet most people know about the Bali Conference.

Look at the deniers. What do they get out of their positions? They are much less likely to receive government funding. And, unlike what you hear, they do not have "big oil" money rolling in. AGW supporters sweep up billions of government dollars while corps have spent thousands of times less (most corps are finding ways to profit from "green" products). The deniers are called "flat earthers" and n**i's. They have their personal lives attacked. AGW loonies do not criticize the studies of "deniers", they criticize the person. Since when is that considered science? Looking at the facts, I am surprised any scientist is willing to come out against AGW. But, luckily, there are still people willing to fight for their beliefs.

  6. I hate the irrationality of conspiracy theorists. Fair enough, look at the evidence and come up with your own theories, which you think are more likely. But don't just rubbish an idea 'cause its like, y'know, stupid'.

  7. The world revolves around money and GE is making it by sponsoring biased views and calling them independent.

  8. The prime motivation is to facilitate, and justify, the establishment of a one world government, or New World Order. The "war on terror" was a good try, but failed to create enough unity among the big players.

As "global warming" affects all nations, the chance of unity is almost guaranteed. Those with the power will enforce the new "rules" on all nations.

Prepare yourselves for the dictatorial New World Order!

  9. Motivation, Money!

I am not so sure that it is a complete lie, I do think that the originating cause happened much earlier than they say like in the 18-1900's.

I think we may not be in as dire straights as "they Say" but there doesn't seem to be much we can do until the "powers at be do the right thing".

  10. Money and power, same as everything else.

I just red a newsstory this week that said that the "Green Industry" is now one of the most lucrative and profitable businesses right now.  Not to mention the fact that this false science is probably propping up the careers of lame politicians like Al Gore who have turned into "documentary" makers and scientists who are building their entire careers on something that they have never proven.  I am sure it also feeds these people's egos as well, they feel like self-righeous crusaders on a noble quest to save the world, like one would see in a comic book or in the movies.  Too bad their altruism isn't so altruistic.

The fact is, the globe may be warming, but there is nowhere near enough evidence to show that humans are either causing it, or are capable of doing anything to stop it.  Back in the '70s there was a nationwide scare about global COOLING.  Why the sudden switcharound?  As usual, capitalism is trying to make a break for the biggest buck. And while I don't have a problem with that normally, scamming the public into investing in "Green Industries" is pretty low as far as I am concerned.

  11. Before anyone forgets, let's all remember Algore and his family made millions off of an oil company.

The one thing everyone has left off is pride.  The alarmists have wagered so much of their credibility on AGW that when everyone finally realizes how terribly wrong they have been, careers will be destroyed.  People will be humiliated.

I'm sorry, but while Algore winning the Nobel Peace Prize was ridiculous, I can't imagine anyone thinking the Nobel Peace Prize committee had any credibility to begin with.  It lost credibility long ago with its awards to Gorbachev and Arafat.  They gave the award to a communist dictator and a terrorist.  Nice.

Of course, they gained credibility again when they gave Jimmy Carter the Nobel Peace Prize.  I don't think they could have found a more spineless peaceful pacifist in the world.  Heck when he was President, the U.S. got slapped on one cheek and he turned the other so they could slap it too.  Instead, they punched us in the gut.

    But I digress...

  12. "Money" is ridiculous.  Al Gore could make more money sitting on corporate boards, and giving speeches on anything else.

Few of the elite scientists of the National Academy of Sciences get funding for global warming.

"Control" is also silly.  These guys are not real interested in government controlling people's lives:

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"

"I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

  13. Well, I don't tihnk it is a lie, but I could care less.  I do think that they are overexagerating.  I believe that Christ is coming back, and what's going on with the planet right now is a sign that it is coming soon! Which is exciting. So basically, I don't give a care in the world whether we are melting the glaciers...

  14. Power over people

  15. And since Al Gore won the Noble Peace Prize, they have lost their credability! NPP and UN are now in the same boat, in my book!

  16. First off, global warming isn't the issue:  MAN-MADE global warming is.  Global warming is a no-brainer:  Glaciers no long cover the Great Lakes or the land New York City now stands upon.

    1)  There is a small knot of scientists who truly believe man is responsible for the current warming of the globe.

    2)  There is a larger group of scientists who wish to see the world a lot "greener", and have no problem letting the "ends justify the means".

    3)  There are those in the scientific community who simply wish to be in charge, and will espouse which ever theory is supported by enough of their peers to maintain their control.

    4)  The largest group of scientists simply want to show up for work (something they'll be unable to do if they cross their boss, just like the rest of us).

    4)  Most of these people are funded directly or indirectly (public universities) by the government.

    5)  Politicians run the government....you know, those self-centered, agenda-driven, lying, cheating, stealing, ego-maniacs.

    6)  The media makes money reporting bad stuff.  Fluff doesn't generate viewers.  Thus, blaming man will get airtime...nature being natural without immediate human suffering goes unreported.

    7)  Many laypersons trust the media, government, scientists without a seconds thought.  Once the message is expressed by any one of these outlets, it's gospel to their ears.  These people represent all walks of life, many also employed in professions of authority (like teachers).

    8)   Once a rumor or lie gets spread far enough, it becomes self-perpetuating (just look at the rumors you just KNEW were fact back in school).  Now everyone just "knows" man-made global warming is real, and only a select few know the true origin of this myth.  It's not that hard really, if you mix in just enough truth...like the fact the world IS warming (only it's a natural feature of this planet).

To make a long answer short:  Many motives, many not aware it IS a lie, it's the same game mean kids play in school (did you hear what Heather did this weekend with you know who?).

  17. There have been many excellent points brought up, so I won't repeat them.

    Bob,

Al Gore could be making a lot more money doing something else, but it is not just about money for Mr. Gore--it is power and fame too. If Al was working for the industry, he wouldn't have become widely acclaimed as the "savior of man kind," he wouldn't have won an oscar, a grammy, and a Nobel prize. No no, he is making ridiculous amounts of money as is, and is praised as a hero with awards to show for his efforts.

And thanks for quoting several mega-corporations who agree that we need action. BUT, it just so happens that they will profit immensely from the transition, so it seems as though their motivations may be of a different sort.

  18. MONEY for greedy LIBERALS. If you believe it is real what is your motive, and please don't give me that save the earth thing. Mother nature can kick us out whenever she wants. Don't believe me just look at the diseases and NATURAL disasters in the world.

  19. Political power, the ability to make laws that control the rest of us, and government grants to scientist claiming to back the myth are driving the lie.

  20. The real lie behind global warming (the lie that AGW isn't supported by a mountain of scientific evidence) is motivated by ignorance, fear, and greed.

Those who are ignorant of science and fear people are out to get them deny AGW is real.  Their view is totally ideological.  They may skim the surface of some fringe science looking for a few bread crumbs that they think support them, but basically evidence isn't important to them.  They are only paranoid because someone's "really" out to get them ;-)

Those motivated by greed are invested in or controlling large financial empires and they could lose their shirts if the actual risk of AGW were known.  So anything they can do to obfuscate the science or delay politicians from any serious action, in order to continue their own revenue stream, is what they'll do.  Hiring a few for-hire "scientists" that can fool the masses is petty cash to them.
