  1. That's pretty stupid. You don't choose who you are attracted to. Being g*y IS a characteristic - it's an orientation.

You can't choose to be attracted to women or men - you are just attracted to one or the other.

Homosexuality is not comparable to bestiality or pedophilia either. Homosexuality harms no one and takes place between consenting adults. Bestiality and pedophilia are both harmful and cruel.

All credible scientific and psychological evidence to date repeatedly demonstrates there is no choice in being g*y. You may 'choose' to ACT on it, but you can't choose to be straight.

  2. Mike,

Things that I have gathered from this debate are:

There is a difference between having homosexual tendencies and that of being "g*y". For nearly everybody has this tendency to a variable degree, but it's those who choose to sexually engage upon it are the ones called "g*y".

Humans were created with a brain having reasoning powers superior to those of animals. Many animals of our day are being stress out because of loss of habitat, malnutrition, and are suffering from many sorts of man made pollution, which likely contributes much to their recent disorientated behavior. Animals have their abnormalities, like whales beaching themselves, lizards leaping off a cliff to drown in the sea below, but humans have the power of reasoning and discernment. We have an idea of what works, what doesn't work, and why. This hold true for s*x too. We know what it's about, what works and what doesn't and to a great extent why.

Even though knowledge is abundant there are those who choose to abuse what works, and those who choose to practice what they know doesn't work. Though they are usually intelligent and knowledgeable, they choose to leave their humanity behind on the doorstep of dignity to engage in bizarre practices of disorientated and diseased animals.

  3. I believe the way we are made is by God's judgement; what we do do with how we are made is free will. If you are going to interpret strictly then there are clear and specific rules regarding ALL sexual behaviour laid out in the  Bible. Do you keep to all those rules? Or are you just looking to do a bit of "pick and mix" to indulge your desire to judge other people. Best Wishes.

  4. Having green eyes was not a choice of mine.Being hung like a horse was not a choice either, although I am glad that I am.

  5. It is a choice, and it's a sin. The bible speaks of it. I don't care what any one says, No one was born g*y. This is an excuse for the g*y people to not blame themselves for their choices. This society, today, doesn't want to take any blame in anything. God will have His judgment upon these kind and every kind.

  6. Having an interest is not a choice. I did not choose blue as my favorite color. I can't stop myself from liking the color blue. Same way with being interested in women. I did choose to like them. They interest me and there is nothing I can do about it.

  7. Is having blue eyes a choice?

I believe that sexuality is a continuum, and that people make decisions based on genetic, cultural, and environmental factors, but to completely dismiss a genetic component is ridiculous.

And even the cultural and environmental factors tend to negate what you're calling "free will."

  8. When did YOU decide you wanted to be heterosexual?  When did you decide that you would choose to like females and not males?  You never had to decide that; it was decided for you - as you just WERE that way.  That's how you were born and didn't need to make a choice at all.  Being g*y is the same way - they are born the way they are.

  9. Being  g*y  is  a  choice  of  freewill  nothing  more. There  is  no  genetic  evidence   stating   you  are  born  g*y.The  only  animal  that   lives  in  this  manner  is  man.These  are  the  facts.Any  thumbs  down  go  to  prove  I'm  right  as  the  truth  hurts.   THANK  YOU  D'S

  10. You mean like being white is a choice? Or tall? Or brown haired?

Christians it seems cannot grasp a simple truth that people are born g*y or straight. Their prejudice on this point is as bad as racial prejudice. They have used it over the years to carry out the longest and one of the most brutal persecutions in human history, including burning g*y people at the stake (hence the term f a g).

On its own, this aspect of some religions and notably Christianity is sufficient to d**n it for eternity as one of the most evil, reprehensible and truly vile ideas and institutions ever to have existed on Earth.

If I were a Chrisitan I would die of the shame.

  11. I have brown hair.

I do not recall choosing to have brown hair.

  12. If you believe your sexualtiy was optional, than why did you "choose" which ever sexual orientation you follow?

If you chose heterosexuality, does that mean that you are a homosexual living in denial?

I never made any choice.  I knew which gender I was attracted to when I was very young.

  13. Hello,

Great question. There is a lot of debate about whether or not being g*y is a choice. I would like to share my perspective, and I in no way mean to offend anyone at all.

I believe everyone has the right to live their life like they wish, and have the free will to do so. I also believe people should never criticize a person based on their beliefs, or sexual preference. People who criticize people or call them "sinners" are just plain idiots.

Technically, being g*y is a choice. What I mean is this. Homosexuality is the sexual contact or sexual relations between two people of the same s*x, right? The main thing that distinguishes g*y from just a regular friendship is the sexual contact.

But s*x is a choice right? We can choose whether or not we have s*x with someone. Just like we choose whether or not we eat pizza for lunch. So of course people have a choice on whether or not they have s*x with people whether it be same s*x or opposite s*x.

Now, many argue that they don't have a choice in feeling attraction to the same s*x. Maybe this is true. But the bible I read doesn't call temptation a sin. Only when you give in to temptation. Sure it says lusting in your heart is a sin, but there is a difference between feeling attraction, and lusting in your heart.

God doesn't hold us accountable for temptations. Only when we choose to give in to those tempatations and break His laws. Even Jesus was tempted in every single way that we are.

Does a person that is born with a natural genetic temptation or predisposition to drink, choose whether or not to be a drunk? He or she can choose whether or not to pick up a drink. They may have more temptation than other people, but they ultimately make the choice of how they live their life.

Same thing with a murderer. If a serial killer has a mental issue they were born with, that maybe makes them more suseptible to kill people, does that mean they have to murder people, NO. It just means maybe they will feel the desire more than others. But they choose whether or not the commit the act of murder.

Great question, this is just my interpretation and opinion on it. Again, I mean no offense to anyone at all. Have a great day.

    *****Edit******

Please understand that I am in no way trying to offend anyone at all. I am not a "bible thumping person" that goes around bashing g*y people. I don't even attend church, but I do study the bible often. I have no problem with g*y people at all, and I love all people regardless of sexual preference, race, money, or any other things. I know several people that are g*y, and I get along fine with them. And about me being g*y, I can assure you I am not. I am a happily married man.

I can't stand for the so called "bible thumpers" that go around accusing people of being "sinners". Especially when most of them commited a sin of a different nature themselves that same day or week. That is just wrong and shows their own ignorance.

The only point I am trying to make is that simply, people can choose actions (not desires). That is the only point I am trying to make. You can't choose your temptations in life, but you can choose if you act on them.

Perhaps some people are born with a strong attraction to the same s*x. I am not condemning them at all. All I am doing is drawing a distinction between desires and actions.

Say a person is born and their whole life they are attracted to child pornography or children. Does it make it right for them to act on this desire even if it is their sexual preference? Or someone is born and they are attracted to having s*x with animals. Does it make it right for them to act on this desire?

Or someone is born with the attraction and fascination with killing people. Does it make it right to act on the desire?

Again, I don't have any problem with homosexuals at all, and I am not judging anyone, because God knows I have never been perfect, and never will be. I was just  answering the question that was asked within the context of my perspective.

We all have different viewpoints. And I am in no way trying to offend anyone. I would defend a g*y person before I would condemn them.

  14. it is NOT a choice. Have you never heard that g**s often have a difference in their brain compared to others of their same s*x. It is a biological fact and not one that you may condemn or judge.

  15. I don't believe in free will, so I guess my bases are covered when I do say that becoming g*y is a choice. I've known too many people in this life who made that decision after suffering some psychological trauma like a guy I used to know who became g*y after his beautiful wife was caught by him in bed with two other men.

He agonized over it for months before making his decision, and he's even more miserable now than he was before all of this happened.

And he's still g*y - lives with his "partner" and all that.

  16. I'll answer THAT when you tell us when you CHOSE to become a heterosexual.  (If you are). Think you can do that for us, Mikey????   LOL

The very use of the word "being" should answer your question for you.

  17. Let me answer your question this way.  When you are out, and you see someone attractive in the distance, was there a conscience decision to find that person attractive, or was it an automatic response?  IF you're like most normal people, then it's an automatic response.  There's no thought in it at all.  You didn't weigh through all the pros and cons of the appearance of the person in that split second, you just reacted on instinct.  It is the same for someone who is g*y, they just find the same gender attractive not the opposite.  Now, if it's an automatic response for a g*y person to find someone of the same gender attractive, what makes you think that it's a choice??

  18. Apart from our existence, everything else is a choice.  When we are babies, the choice was our parents' but maturity/the age of consent gave way to the choice becoming ours.

Let's take it for granted that your 'existence' incorporates whatever physical attributes/natural tendencies consitute you.  Obviously, you had no say in these matters. Think, lifestyle, etc. Don't be stuck on the minors now. And if you think about, there are so many things technology affords us the privilege of doing,  that we can alter anything we decide we never had a choice in having.

  19. Free will doesn't mean what you think it means.

  20. You seem to think you have free will...why did YOU choose to be a white man?

  21. it is a choice, not all choices are right, i am sure you would agree with me there. we are free to choose

  22. "Free will," as illogically defined in Christianity, is a delusion because in the final analysis, it is "God's" will that has to be obeyed OR ELSE.

Homosexuality is innate - the preponderant scientific evidence supports it, and only homophobic religions will insist that it is a "choice."

Edit @ Stotlerdavid - There are over 450 different species of ANIMALS that have been documented which have exhibited homosexual behaviour. Go to PETA.org, dolt, if you want proof. All the thumbs down you're going to get reflect on your own stupidity and ignorance. My condolences for the death of your brain.

The "free will" illusion and homophobia are characteristics of Christianity. Christianity is an invented fraud, and much about this religion is downright stupid.

Edit @ Asker - I don't agree with you about hivesguy's "brilliance." A real close read between the lines shows me a hypocritical homophobe and a theist fond of non-sequiturs, like most theists are (except most of them don't know what the word means).

Hivesguy: All anyone of us needs to accept is that love and s*x between two CONSENTING ADULTS, regardless of their sexual orientation - especially in the privacy of their own abode - is perfectly okay. There's no need to make distinctions between unrelated issues like child porno or pedophilia with homosexual behaviour between adults. What you've done is complicate a simple matter by throwing in unrelated and irrelevant issues. As for accusing you of being a homophobe, I take it back - my apologies.
