  1. they are only obligated until the check in time and no further. they will tell you in your booking info in the small print

  2. Yeah, you booked the room.

  3. They hold it for you for one night.  If you don't check in by their check out time, the day AFTER you were supposed to check in,  they will give your room away if you had booked for more than one night, but still charge you for the first night.

  4. If you book a room , designate the time you will be arriving. Better still make sure you indicate there may be late arrival and you wish the room held.

  5. In Theory yes...You have to read the policy as well. They don't have to hold the room if they didn't charge your card but anyway if they don't hold your room they won't charge it...you can be sure 100% only if they charge your card. If  they hold your room and you don't show up they can charge your card

  6. You should contact the hotel and ask them their policy.  Because hotels have been known to overbook just like airlines, and they will tell you sorry but the hotel (hole in the wall) down the street has vacancies.  It happened to me and friends, but they already had a backup plan for us, they had contacted another hotel because our tour guide called ahead and told them we would be there in an hour, this was in Switzerland 2007, we ended up using 3 hotels, when we were to use only one. I stayed at the orig hotel and loved my hugh room/suite like room, so I am not complainting.

  7. Yes, in fact if you don't cancel and don't show up you will be charged for it!  They already have charged your card when you booked the reservation.
