That's a bit like saying if I breed 2 chihuahua's will I get a pug?

If you breed two half moons you'll primarily get half moons and, depending on their family history, maybe some super deltas. Even with a plakat in their family history it's unlikely to get any plakats.

If you want plakats, breed two plakats. If you want half moon plakats, breed two plakats with a good spread that is half moon or close to it.

You can, but it really depends on the genes of the bettas that are breeding. Some halfmoons have many different genes in them that people do not know of. That's why some breeders will breed two halfmoons and wind up with almost all veiltails. The halfmoons may have those genes in them, it depends. Quality breeders will almost always have pure halfmoons, no other mixes.
