  1. I think you will not be able to insure it until you find a specialist insurance and then it'll cost more than the original car. Might cost even more than the car it's trying to emulate

  2. You will pay 2 times the price that it costs to insure the original volvo as the car's been tampered with and it has been modified from standard. Fail from notifying your insurers about this and your insurance is void.

Also, 95% of insurers out there will not insure you hence when you will find one it'll be 2 times the price.

I say 2 times the price but it could easily be 5 times.

  3. I've gone through the same thing -- still a bit painful, here is the resource help me a lot.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  4. You pay for the Volvo, since that's the car they're insuring. And the Vovlo's VIN is the number they use to insure it.

But ... there are a lot of major headaches you'll encounter if you need to make a claim. Because they're insuring a Volvo, any repair parts must be Volvo parts for them to fix you car, in case of an accident. If they're some other body style, you'll have to pay out of pocket since your insurance company insured the car with the Volvo VIN. Not the other look-alike car.

You may find an insurance company willing to insure it as a customized car. But your premium will be very high since they're covering non-factory stock parts.
