The front desk person doesn't understand me and asks me if there is some specific person I should speak to.

I imagine that this person, working in the offshore oil and gas industry might have SOME knowledge as to what the company does and put me in through to the right person.

But alas! I turn to the power of Yahoo! answers.

  1. I'm also in the Offshore Oil and Gas and I don't have a clue what you are talking about.  No Company that I know of 'Holds Buoys".

In the Offshore industry, Oil Rigs that employ anchors will have 'Anchor Buoy's', used to spot and retrieve anchors.  The Anchor Handling Boat will attach it to the end of their handling chain when the anchor is set, but the Buoy belongs to the Rig Owner.

If you're talking about maintenance of the buoy's, regular maintenance, paint n patch, is performed by the Rig Crew.  If the buoy requires replacement they will seek bids from steel fabricators and provide drawings.
