If you can roller skate and roller blade -does it stand to reason you should be able to ice skate ?

It's way different, because it is more slippery on the ice, and you have to have a lot of traction. I am however, good at rollerblading, because I figure skate.

It's a similar motion, but most people feel awkward their first time on the ice even if they've rollerskated.

With most kids, give them an hour on the ice and by the end they're going along just fine.
