If you caught a dragonfly and brought it up on a plane...?

and let it go at a high altitude, will it survive? will it freefall? glide?

  1. depends how high if you dropped it at 3000 metres then it would probalbly survive but at 10000 metres it would die from the cold.


  2. i think it would die because who knows how long they can fly without getting tired

  3. If I assume high altitude to mean 30000-40000 ft, then it would probably freeze to death, then freefall, although the air currents might keep it aloft for quite a while.

  4. it depends how high and what kind of plane. what an odd question :)

    Since a jet can travel higher than an open cabin plane, and you would not be able to let it go outside of the plane, i am guessing you are talking about an open cabin plane. In which case the dragonfly would survive, and would glide.

    If you are talking about a commercial airliner, the point is mute because you cannot release it outside of the plane, let alone get it on the plane.
