If you consume contaminated water, how long before any signs of sickness?

there was a break in the water on the streets so they say it might be contaminated. idk.

That depends on what contaminant and the concentration of contaminant in the water.

it depends on the type of contanination.  Bad less than 1 hr not so bad 12 hrs . but there are many types of contaminates, ie. parasites that may not show outwardly for much longer
