For instance if you boil an egg v. fry it in a pan its different calories?...Why. It CANT be added ingredients because what if you use fat free, 0 cal or whatever cooking spray not butter......

What about grilled chicken v. baked chicken.

Does it really matter how you cook something? If you use oil, or flour, or whatever arent you just supposed to incorporate those calories into your daily total and thats that.

Or does it matter HOW you cook something. IF it does, that is so much work you would have to look up how many calories every type of cooking method for a certain food is....IS that what you have to do???

Im so confused...................................

  1. i think a boiled or fryed egg is about the same. i use that no cal cooking spray to fry eggs. now if your cooking chicken on grill or baking it are you using flour to bread it for baking shake n bake that does have some calories. i try not to worry about the calories just stop eating when y get that first full feeling. and eat lots of veg and fruit watch the breads thats where the calories are and don't drink soda's they have a lot of empty calories. hope this help's you

  2. Think about if you are adding or subtracting calories by your cooking method.

Frying or coating in flour will add those calories.

If you coat in flour or crumbs you are adding the crumb but also you will absorb more fat.

If you brown or simmer the meat and pour off the fat you are reducing the fat.

If you are going to be that specific in your calorie count you need to add in all of the calories of all of the ingredients- flour. oil, dipped in milk or egg etc.

The easiest is to just add up the items, 4 oz fish, 1 oz milk, 1 oz butter etc.  I would'nt worry about subtracting calories for fat left behind in the pan.

  3. There are ways to cook, and a right and a wrong way to do it.  For example, if you just put chicken in the oven in a dish, it'll cook in its own fat, which is almost like deep frying.  Take as much fat as you can off your meat and then grill it, or bake it on a rack, where it can drain.  That'll cut down on the calories.  Contact me for specifics.
