for me id want to implement instant replay on potential home run balls.

ive seen too many balls be miss correctly called by the umps. id want the instant replay to be able to determine if it was fan interference of if the ball went over the fence, or if the ball went over or under the yellow lines at some fields, or if the ball was fair or foul when it was going down the line

what would you change?

  1. There's not much I would change. I wish that NOBODY ever took steroids b/c the Steroid Era has tainted baseball.

  2. Balance the schedule.  If the wild card is going to determine a playoff team, (and 4 of the last 11 World Series champs), then the teams in different divisions should be playing more similar schedules.

The DH sucks, but it's not going away.  Too many contract for aging, immoblie sluggers on the line, and the union will fight that one to the bitter end.  Besides, it creates some fan interest in the game, which is a good thing.

Instant replay will be implemented shortly, and I'm sure it'll expand over time as it's success and impact on the game becomes evident.

  3. There would be scheduled doubleheaders. Each team would have 3 scheduled doubleheaders during the season.

  4. well thankfully they are bringing in instant replay, hopefully by the end of this month and it will be used in the playoffs, that's the last I heard.  But I agree with you, I'd like to see instant replay.

  5. No more DH !!!

    GO METS

  6. I can't wait for instant replay.  I've seen a lot of nasty calls that shouldn't have been

  7. i wuld change the infield fly rule thingy, its not even neccessary and it makes no sence!

  8. I agree, the replay, but not just on home run balls.

  9. Make the season shorter. 162 games? C'mon!

  10. I would love to go back to when babe Ruth was around to see him hit a ball @ make a home run for the New York Yankees @ I would love too see young players get the chance to show what they are made off.Young players are needed in Baseball

  11. Get rid of the Designated Hitter. It really makes baseball an unfair game, an extra hitter can make a difference in a team's lineup. The DH really destroys the symmetry of baseball and is basically why the AL clubs have higher payrolls than NL clubs.

I mean seriously, before the DH was instituted in 1973, the pitcher bat in BOTH leagues. So why can't it be like that?

Some of my friends who have favorite teams in the AL try and give me this junk about the pitcher being a "special" player. The pitcher takes the field, fields and throws, and plays in fair terratory just like all other 8 position players, so there is no way he can be considered a "special" player.

If anything the catcher should be a "special" player. He wears more equipment than all the other players and plays in foul terratory.

So yes, GET RID OF THE DH.

  12.   The financial structure of the game is destroying it. Not only to the fans, who are obviously subsidizing the incredible salaries, but its also impacting the quality of play Itself. When is the last time you saw a player who could ( or would even try to consistently bunt for base hits) and where have all the basestealers gone, and the Glovemen (great defensive players) how bout the number two man who actually realized his job was to move the runner over. Or even how many batters will Really work the count, much less accept the dreaded walk.  You see, the qualities of selflessness and team play just DO NOT get you the megabucks contract. Hitting the ball out of the park DOES, and thats pretty much what most of the eras players seem preoccupied with.  Thus, many of the fine nuances of the game seem to be falling by the wayside. But Hey, I guess thats progress !!

  13. go back to the classic days and eliminate the DH

either that or make a mandatory distance in all parks that the fences have to be away form home plate. too many HR parks in the MLB and not enough pitcher friendly parks

  14. I really don't care about instant replay, even on HR balls.

I'd do a salary cap for sure and really strict drug testing.

No suspensions though, if you are caught using PED, you lose the right to negotiate contracts for greater than one year in length or for anything more than league minimum and no performance bonuses.

  15. Some sort of salary cap

  16. Salary

  17. instant replay

  18. aahh..so many things:

mandatory distance from home plate to wall...

some stadiums have different distances, affecting home runs

-how can you say a person has the most home runs when they're hitting 380 footers, while others are hitting 400 footers and not being counted as home runs??

    instant replay...

so many calls have been made wrong, calls that affected the outcome of the game

    the divisions...

for pretty much all season, the top three teams in the national league have been in the central division

when it comes time for the world series, one of them will not be able to go even if they have a higher winning percentage than the other division leaders (the cardinals are 7 games back from the cubs, but are still one of the top in the NL)

i think what is most important to me, though, would have to be the home run distance...it's just so unfair the way it is now

  19. Speed up the pace of the game. 3 1/2 hour baseball games are too long.

  20. I'd get rid of the wild card.  There are no great pennant races anymore.  I miss the days when two great teams would push each other to the limit because only one was going to the league championship series. Now it doesn't matter cause they will both get in anyway.  Then we get to see a battle between mediocre teams to see who wins the remaining wattered down division races.  It is also rediculous that teams win the world series without even winning their own division.
