  1. yes, they offer a more personnal service, although it might be a tad more expensive than the supermarkets.

  2. Erm... what do you mean "bring back"?

I live in Cumbria and we still have them all - and a mobile fishmonger and a library van that comes once a week.

  3. yes i would.

it would be nice to be able to walk to those places especially if you are young and don't have a car.

but indeed i would want to bring all of those back. and i agree the post office as well.

  4. Just like franja, we have a mobile butcher and greengrocer, excellent fresh produce.

  5. yes. i think it would make our world a more quaint, personal place.

  6. People say where would we be without our corner shops. But

the fact of the matter is.We only use our corner shops. To buy

what we forget to buy in our supermarkets.

  7. yes my granddad said what about the post office as well.

  8. Yes i would these big stores are so impersonal, nobody smiles anymore. You get to know people better with the corner shops etc.

  9. YES as they are convenient and local.

  10. Weren't mobile grocers the BEST!!!

oh i can smell it now

  11. While those small shops may have been charming, they could not provide you with the low prices and varied choices of the large stores.  It used to take most of a day to do the shopping just for food, then if you were buying anything else you could spend even more time and wind up paying even more than you do in the large super stores that sell food, clothes, kitchenware, appliances, furniture, hardware, tools, garden supplies and many other things all under one roof.

No I would not bring them back.  There are many shops that sell goods or services that the big stores do not, they fill a niche.  A "Made in Scotland" souvenir shop which sells only things made in Scotland to tourists is an example of a niche business.  The souvenirs in the big stores may be cheaper, but they are all made in China.  If you want use that idea go ahead.

  12. how do i feel about botulism?

  13. To a degree yes, I always get my eggs and veg from a local farm shop.

The quality of the produce is (to me) so much better than the stuff at the supermarkets

But in this day and age of food safety etc, I doubt many would buy their meat from a mobile cart anymore.

    Shame

  14. I CERTNALLY WOULD...they were easeist to rob at gun poont.

  15. Of course theirs nothing like supporting your local community is there! Why make multi billionaires richer.

  16. I think it would depend on where you are living but in small towns I think it is adorable! My great grand parents lived in Kenmore NY and on their cute little street there were shops like this, but now they are abandond.

  17. It would be nice for the return of the corner shop but the down side now would be that you would have yobs hanging out on every street corner making a nuisance of themselves. Times have changed for the worst so Police patrol would be non existent. People eventually would want the supermarkets back.

  18. Absolutely, I would.  I liked the freedom of choices.

  19. no
