How would you construct it... what would it be made of? Would it be fixed to the ocean's bottom rigidly or would it be tethered with cables... or would it float under its own power system of locomotion, navigation and equilibrium control?

  1. no it would be a yacht

  2. nets full of plastic bottles - somebody did that, in western mexico, about 8years ago, and I've been wanting to build one ever since. They had a garden, and small trees growing in barrels. Tethering it seems like a good idea - &you'd need to make sure it stayed right side up.

  3. s***w building one. you can buy one already there. I have done the research.... I am ready, well ... as soon as I have enough money.

  4. u could use solar power to power ur tv and air condistioning and to make the island float there could be fans of some sort on the bottom of the island like thousands of them and u could also move the island if u wanted to by turning the fans on a certain angle. to make fresh water u would set up something to collect ocean water and then boil it. the island would be made up out of some type of plastic that doesn't get full of alge hope this helps

  5. Picture a dog-bone shaped structure. It would float with its long axis. vert.

The majority of the mass would be well below any heavy storm-wave action.

a number of tethers would hold it gently in position.

The lower section would contain a nuclear powered generator, desalinization equipment etc.

The portion above the surface would normally be sealed off forom the lower portion.

  6. well , if u are not talking about a recreational island , so osaka airport is the best example for some island built in the middle of the sea , & can bear loads , also some islands are being built in the persian gulf & it's only carry buildings
