Ok so i watch a little too much anime for my own good...i was watching Ghost In The Shell and it got me thinking, if people were given the opportunity would they go complete cyborg?? Or would you choose to replace certain parts with prosthetics??

Note: lets also say that the cyborg bodies and prosthetics look completely human, think terminator or i robot....

  1. Resistance is futile - you will be assimilated....

  2. no

  3. At my gentle age of almost 71, I would chose to replace only certain important parts:

    1. New skin.

    2. New head of hair just like I had at 28.

    3. Brand new heart, kidneys, liver and freshen up my brain a bit.

    4. Brand new p***s and all of the plumbing that goes with it to not only make me feel like 28, but enable me to perform like 28.

    5. Flush off most of my excess fat.

    6. Replace all of my skeletal (bones), tendons, cartilage with brand new.

    7. Replace all of my muscular structure back to when I was 28.

I guess that is almost all completely cyborg.  :)   LOL.

I don't think I could or would want to relive this hard miserable life once again. Once around is twice too many times. - really!

  4. I don't think cyborg would be the scenario. Gene modification is expected to hit big. Ever heard of a designer baby?

  5. umm idk i would have to really think about it...problaby not unless my life was in danger and the only way i could protect it was by becoming a cyborg...but i wouldnt cause icyborgs dont have feelings.

  6. I assume you mean "don't look completely human", right?

Hmm...the problem can be summed up in one word: function.  Would I be able to do or experience everything I can do now, and possibly more too?  Would it be an Upgrade or a Downgrade?

I'm asking because I'm taking the idea seriously.  My body is in mediocre condition, I know this.  A large part of me wouldn't mind trading up for a cute, more anime-styled version of the "I, Robot" look, just leaving the upper spinal cord, brain and maybe the eyes intact and living.

But...there would be things I'd miss.  Pizza.  Ice cream.  Sleeping in on a bright sunny day.  Being able to smell a pretty woman.  h**l, *sleeping with one* too.

It would make me wonder if the new, replacement body would be worth it.  Even the absence of one small thing--a face that reacts correctly, or an incomplete sense of touch--might in time end up becoming a *serious* problem, something that would drive me crazy.

And I'd have lots of time most likely...since the new body would age and break down slowly.

Right now I'd say I'm 85% for it, about 15% against.  Sorry for the iffy Answer.
