For me its #99 against my Flyers in those long pants and seeing Billy Barber playing D and Wayne getting his 5th of the game and 50th in 39.

  1. In the modern time. I would have liked to have gone to the Florida Panthers very first home opener. It was impossible to get a ticket so I missed out

In the past. I would have loved to have seen Willie O Ree's very first game.

  2. Detroit vs. Colorado:  March 26, 1997.  Enough said.

Hmm... lots of playoff games in here.  Thought the question was for REGULAR season.  That was why Joe all capsed REGULAR.  So we all knew to say which REGULAR season game we wanted to be at.

  3. Thats a tough one to beat. That was modern day history in the making. That game is sure to be one on my list.

I would have like to have seen the Challenge Cup clincher back in what 1976? (if that could count)

Otherwise, my choice would be the last game at the Montreal Forum, for real reg season NHL games.

  4. Wow, my choice would change from day to day, but I always wished I saw the first regular season Flyers game at the Spectrum.

  5. any game with Maurice "Rocket" Richard in it

  6. Hard to go wrong with the 50 in 39 game.  That or the game where he tied Howe for the alltime goal scoring lead.

Best regular season game I have been to, two come to mind.

Saku Koivu's first game back from his battle with cancer.  Atmosphere was amazing and a Pens vs Nordiques game I attended in 92 or 93 in the Colisee in Qc.  Nordiques are up 3-0 in the third when the mario show starts.  Final mario 5 Nords 3.  3 goals and an assist in the third.

  7. October 20th, 1996 Lightning vs. Rangers as the then-Ice Palace hosts its first Lightning hockey game. The Bolts won the game 5-2.

  8. Gretzky's 50 goals in 39 games. Or the Caps/Panther last game of the season. Or the Sharks first game of franchise history.

  9. Hi

I think I would choose a game from the leagues early years.  I am not sure which one but would have liked to see how much the game has changed with my own eyes.

    Thank You

ps Don't you just love that fact that the ability to read is not a requirement to be a user on here.  First two didn't even bother to read the question just put down what they felt like.  amazes me.  Don't parents teach their children anymore the old saying of " if you don't have anything of value to say keep your mouth shut."

3 out of 4 to begin it.

pss Copas, I'm thinking the tornado shelters would have gotten mighy full for a couple minutes.  Either that or someone was looking for a pig to wrestle, no matter what I bet it would have been quite an experience.

  10. Detfan hit it.  March 26, 1997.  Wings-Avs.

  11. sharks & stars game 6. i'll never forget that 4 overtime game.

    go sharks

  12. Iwent to a playoff game in in 1987 capitals against islanders and the I's won in the 4th ot never forget that game .game 7

  13. Wayne's first NHL game. Somehow I would've gotten him to sign the program. Imagine having that in a frame.

  14. March 26, 1997 Red Wings-Avalanche

One of the biggest fights at Joe Louis Arena and a 6-5 OT comeback win for Detroit.

  15. When Gretzky got 5 goals in one game to go to 50 goals in 39 games.

  16. how about 2006-2007 Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens very last game of the season.

it was a heart attack of a game.

a very very well fought game, it ended 6-5 Maple Leafs. That's the game that would have allowed them an eigth spot in the playoffs if NYI hadn't of beaten NJ.

i guess you said in NHL history.. so maybe like something Bobby Orr Related.

  17. 2003- Devils vs Ducks Game 7! Dano Comes Back Brodeur Gets another shutout, and the sight of the stanley cup! Id also pick 1997, Blues vs RedWings game 7 stevie y barries the ot winner!

and id also have liked to attend the 4 overtime period in dallas this year!

and also the one mentioned by detfan  great comeback by the wings!

  18. December 31, 1988

Mario Lemieux scores 5 goals in 5 different ways:

    - even-strength

    - power-play

    - shorthanded

    - penalty shot

    - empty-net

This game best exemplified why Lemieux was one of the most exciting offensive performers ever.

  19. I would've liked to go to the 1988 game, the last of the season, when the Devils made the playoffs for the first time in history.  :-)  Johnny MacLean scores in OT, and the Devils win 4-3 against the Blackhawks.  The Devils went 7-0-1 to clinch that playoff spot, and they proceded to defeat the Islanders, the team first in the Patrick division, in six games keeping Trottier POINTLESS.  :-D  They beat the Caps in seven games, and took the Bruins to seven but lost :-(.  Pretty good for a team that barely clinched a spot.

*too bad i wasn't even born then.  haha, but i love watching that clip over and over agan.

  22. Sis says over my shoulder "no goal!"

For those of you not versed in Sabres lore, that would be game 6 if the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals, which doesn't answer the question at all.

My answer: Any game when the French Connection was hot playing in the old Aud back in the 70's.

  23. WHEW.. Smells like theres been some "Spearin" goin on here.. LOL...

Woulda love to seen the Predators second home game-- the game they scored their first goal--- just to see really how ignorant we were as  a fanbase in its infancy.. Rednecks hearing a goal horn for the first time??---- Insert your own punchline here...
