Question:

If you could only splurge on one item for your wedding, what item would it be?

Most of the time the catering bill is the biggest expense. Besides the food, what is the one particular item you would splurge on?

I personally want the most unique and artistic photos and I'm willing to spend more to get them. I've heard other people say the venue, the cake, the dress, and even the DJ was most important. So what do you think? What was/is your biggest splurge?

  1. I'd say photography. It is the one thing that you will continue to cherish after the wedding day.

  2. The venue, food and drink. It was very important to me to entertain my guests properly, and there is no point having a fancy photographer if your guests aren't having a great time!

  3. In retrospect, we just should have just paid the big bucks and gotten a live band, in addition to a dj. Nothing beats a wedding with a real band!

  4. The honeymoon!

Wedding splurge- how about really nice gifts for the wedding party!

PS- Are you hinting... I would be honored.

  5. The honeymoon trip was my biggest splurge.

  6. i went to my cousins wedding and she gave cameras to every adult, some adults had more than one camera, then she got them all developed and the family and her went through them, she put the pictures in a scrap book and it came out really neat, she hired a cheap photographer too, we got some pictures he didn't get and some pictures of the relatives give every one a good laugh!

  7. Photography and the dress. Those things last.

You aren't going to be hanging the food on your walls forever?

    know what I mean?

I just think that in the end.... your going to remember the pictures. And you'll be keeping the pictures forever.

Also, I splurged on my dress because I will keep it forever and my daughters can wear it if they want. Plus, I wanted to feel beautiful and my dress definitely made that.

  8. Well I'm already married, but to answer the question anyways....open bar!  my family are not a bunch of alcoholics, but we like to drink for special occasions.  I hate the idea of charging my guests for anything so I would make sure there was a nice bar selection.  I did have an open bar at my wedding, but the wedding was small so it wasnt a huge expense.

  9. Dress

  10. The hotel room and the toys for the wedding night!

  11. A really good live band.

  12. i have two...

photographer: that way the memories are captured in a photo and not just in your head.

dress: my dress was HOT with a double T. I wanted that dress and it was perfect. I dont regret buying it.

the flowers and cake and all those little things are just decoration. the real purpose is the bride and groom. doesnt matter where it is, what it looks like, or how professionally done it was, all that matters is the bride and groom... or at least that is my thought.

  13. Flowers.........

  14. our rings

  15. Photographs, followed by the dress and catering

  16. Definitely the photographer. I wish we got a profesional photog., but we didn't, we hired a friend who did photography as a "hobby" and I wish, looking back at the pics, that we had more traditional wedding shots. I think our biggest splurge was the cake, the darn thing cost more than my dress! It was really yummy though!

  17. Nothing... I would (and we did) splurge on the honeymoon. Our wedding was under $1,000 (including the rings, which were probably the biggest single expense at $200 each), our honeymoon 5-6 times as much (a trip to NYC and a 10-day cruise).

  18. Definitely the pictures, they're the only thing you will have to remember your special day, (that, and videography). I splurged on my dress, it cost me more than the photgraphy! But I don't care, it was worth it. :-)

  19. Because you want the ability to treasure the memory of that day forever, I think photos/video should be the biggest splurge.  A good photographer can make almost anything look FABULOUS - no matter how little you spend for it!!  Another good splurge (depending on your personal taste) is flowers.

  20. We splurged on our photographer. We bought the rights to all the photos and got them all on CD, too.

  21. Horse and carriage :) So elegant and gorgeous, but about twice the price of a regular car! :S But my fiance knows that I really want it so we are saving and saving!! :D

  22. My biggest splurge was the venue...it was so beautiful that I didn't have to spend much on flowers or decoration.
