  1. I did turn pro, but I never set out to do so. I just loved playing pool; even before I had ANY clue as to what I was doing. I liked the sound of the balls clicking and echoing in the pool hall. I loved the sound of the ball hitting the bottom of the pocket. I loved lining up shots, etc, etc. I just had a natural feel for the game. Pool was and still is my 'drug of choice' (if you will). My parents did NOT support the fact that their only daughter played pool. They were never proud of it and advised me against it. I snuck around to play pool ---there was just NO stopping me!

As I progressed and grew over the years (physically, mentally, worldly, and skillfully) I learned that I could get into tournaments and leagues. I played in everything I could ---but only because I loved the game, and I loved competition ----- still do. The more I competed, the more I wanted to compete!

So, I'm a bit late in answering your question about turning pro. I can tell you that I turned pro, sunconsciously and unintentionally, by my love for the game and the fact that I could never get enough of it and I was an obsessed perfectionist. The gazillions of hours I invested in the game, and the pros who saw that I had something 'special', and offered to help me, was my turning point to a greater dimension of Pool as I knew it. Those were the men who encouraged me and awoke me to the fact that I could do a lot more than just play pool for giggles. Their confidence and positive feedback, helped me to see that I really did have a natural ability, a lot of stamina, and could play with the best. Pool gave me a sense of accomplishment and purpose. I really needed that when I was younger! I am forever grateful for the game of pool !!!

Long story short: I became a pro through invested time, love for the game, obssession with perfection, love for competition, and did I mention .....LOVE FOR THE GAME???  I worked my way up every single day for years. I never became a pro for any notoriety, fame, or money ....well ok ....I made a few bucks, but nothing to write home about. I love the high of playing a perfect game,  and never gave up on striving to perfect my game. There's NOTHING like being in the zone!

BEING a pro and TURNING pro, are different terms used only for the purpose of qualifying for "pro-only" events. There are many professional pool players who haven't joined the pro tour or "turned pro". They are pros just the same.

  2. Sure--they make good money doing what they love to do.  Pool is something I love to do, and I'm okay at it, but nowhere near pro level.  Wish I was...I can dream though.

  3. YOU BETCHA!!!!  I would love to go to the Mandalay Bay resort and casino and go one on one with Corey Duehl in a race to 7.   Johnny Archer would be a good victory as well. RF

  4. Hi

No, it would be a waste of everyones time as I am not nearly good enough to be a pro. I am just good enough to get bragging rights over couple local drunks nothing more.

    Thank You

  5. h**l yes, to do the thing i love

hey lorian, i totally agree with the phrase "drug of choice", i can't go 3 days without a game of pool or snooker, i am actually addicted

  6. I would if I could make a living at it which I doubt.

  7. Play pool for a living?

    h**l yeah!!

I'm pretty good, but not that good. (Although I only usually get a chance to play once or twice a week).

I play a lot of straight pool too - you don't see it a lot in pro.
