If you could visit any city in Mexico, which would you choose and why?

I have always wanted to go to cancun. It is not a very interesting answer, but it's the truth.

I went to Mexico for the first time in 2004 and I went to Mexico City. I CAN"T BELIEVE IT! It was so much fun. And that's where I want to go again, and I WILL THIS WINTER!!!!!!!!! It's a great city, a big city, lots to do, but I mean lots.

San Cristobal in the state of Chiapas

-the air of revolution

-the street musicians

-the artisans

-el fogon de jovel restaurante (for the drink I can't remember, but it's served with sparklers in a gourd. the food is delicious)

-close to Palenque, ruins and rainforest

Why just a city? I love Chiapas, San Cristobal, Palenque but better stay in Panchan, so many things to do in Chipapas. But if you insist in one city then go to Guadalajara, real big super city or something really calm and nice and quite, San Miguel de Allende, but definitely Mexico is too beautiful and big to just stay in one place. Taxco if you want to buy jewelery.

I have been to several cities in Mexico, But my all time favorite has to be Mexico City. It has so many things to do during the day and so many clubs , restaurants, at night. Its just wonderful..

The Sightseeing is great, the people are wonderful, friendly and the food is delicious. and the most important thing is that its Really Cheap .. I would recommend everyone go and have a great time..

I'd vote with Lorraine and Mimis for San Cristobal de las Casa in the state of Chiapas as my favorite city.  But I much prefer renting a car a driving to as many different cities as I can.  There's so much to see and buy:

Guitars in Paracho in the state of Michoacan

Hammocks in Merida in the state of Yucatan

Weaving in Teotitlan del Valle in the state of Oaxaca

Silver in Taxco in the state of Guerrero

Almost any town on the coast to eat a lot of seafood.

Mexico City and Cancun are too crowded for me, but you should go to Mexico City at least once for:

the museums

the Ballet Folklorico

the Metro (subway) system

the zocalo (the cathedral and Templo Mayor)

and a trip out to Teotihuacan

THERE ARE VERY INTERESTING PLACES OR CITIES IN MEXICO, IF YOU LOKKING FOR SOMETHING DIFERRENT THEN DON'T YOU GO TO CANCUN OR ACAPULCO OR ANY OTHER PLACE LIKE THAT. I RECOMENDED MEXICO CITY IS A BIG CITY AND YOU WILL FIND FUN. MERIDA IN YUCATAN IS A BEAUTIFUL AND RELAX PLACE. VERACRUZ IS YOU WANT SOME FUN YOU SHOULD VISIT VERACRUZ THERE ARE THE MOST FRIENDLY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THEY LOVE TO DANCE SALSA, REGGEE AND OTHER LATINS RYHTHMS BUT YOU CAN FIND TECNO MUSIC TOO AND THIS PLACE HAVE A LOT OF HISTORY. GUADALAJARA FOR ME IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL CITY WITH A LOT OF MUSEUMS AND WHERE YOU CAN FIND THE TYPICAL TRADITIONS OF MEXICO. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN

Hello, I've been to Cancun  and the "state" Chiuahua,  I absolutely loved both of my trips but,... Cancun was my absolute favorite!! But I've allways wanted to go to Cozumel and Isle Mujeres & Puerto Viarta & Mazatlan!!

( I travel alot!! and I prefer Cancun over Hawaii!!)

Words of advice though: Avoid any and all timeshare gooroos!! especially the little tourist stands at the airport!! (In Cancun)  

A few reasons I loved Cauncun , is there beaches!! and I loved going to the myan ruins and to Xel-ha(water/Eco park) and I loved the resorts activities and emenities!! (All the resorts offer alot of amenities alike~!) I'm not really a "party girl" but  I enjoyed the night scene!
