All of us Americans with a conscience have to feel bad about how the lives the the typical Iraqi has been turned upside down. We all know Saddam was a horrible man and deserved to be taken out of power and punished, but many of the current citizens find themselves in a far worse place today than they did 6 or 7 years ago. What would you write them, to give them hope and to show them that you as an American Care. I have found a friend who speaks the Iraqi dialect of Arabic and will help me translate a letter. I am thinking of sending a letter to people across Iraq and hopefully getting some letters back. Please write what you would write to the average Iraqi and if you would possibly like to start a conversation with a random citizen of hopefully our new ally in the middle east, then let me know. Perhaps we can do this! And perhaps we can change the opinions of many Iraqis who absolutely hate Americans. I know I've already changed one, by showing care and compassion.

  1. MSM sheeple propaganda.

I have relatives serving there - you don't know what you are talking about!

  2. I would tell them to ignore people like yourself and listen to those who know what they are talking about.

Are you even aware that the Iraqi people trust the US military but _not_ people like you?

  3. Dear Iraqi citizen,

It is our hope that one day soon you will be completely free from the threat of those who hate because of religion, race, ethnicity, or personal beliefs.

As an American who treasures the history of the United States of America, and the many lessons we have learned from the numerous moments of turmoil within our own country, I beseech you to be patient and fight the good fight for your personal freedoms.

Many of you have suffered greatly from the War and violent aftermath of factions within your country trying to obtain and secure power. Many of you were unsure and wary of the American and Coalition forces during this time of upheaval in your beloved country.

It is with humble sincerity that the American people ask that you see the future hope and dreams that you have for your children as you realize the freedoms that the American soldiers, Coalition forces, and the members of your newly formed Iraqi government are trying so hard to secure for you and for them.

It is also my sincere hope that you will try to look past your differences, and come together in unity as a freedom-loving people much like the people of the United States had to do in rebuilding our country after winning our independence from a tyrannical dictator more than two hundred years ago.

There were many who "understandably" did not embrace change within our own country during this "Revolutionary War" period in our history. But gradually we came together with a strong humanitarian bond, understanding that we are all citizens of the United States, and that our Constitutional rights were guarateed to all of us.

However, mistakes were made, and corrections in our beliefs and guaranteed rights had to be adjusted and improved upon continuously; making certain that all of our people were treated fairly, with respect and honor. You will find this to be true in your country as well, regardless of how diligently your leaders try to craft the foundations of your country's laws and its methods of governance.

We had to rebuild once again after the differences of our people split our nation causing a very brutal Civil War approximately 87 years later. But, great American leaders, chosen from the citizenry of the United States, arose to meet the challenges of this tumultuous time, and we overcame our differences.

Since then, we have come together as a nation and a people with many different races, ethnicities, religions, and beliefs. We still have our distinct differences, and those differences often lead to protest. But, we are truly a peace-loving people.

We believe that the Iraqi people also love peace. We believe that the Iraqi people want their children to live and grow in a free society where every citizen has unlimited opportunity, prosperity through the hard work of one's own hands, both regional and National security, guaranteed individual rights, justice for every citizen regardless of political or financial status, and the liberty to pursue one's own dreams. We are confident that the Iraqi people will also elect peace-loving leaders who will arise to meet the challenges to freedom that the Iraqi people have faced.

It is our deepest desire that the elected representatives, and all of those whom they represent in your country, are granted the wisdom and understanding to grasp the future journey upon which your nation embarks. May your decisions lead you to a lasting and prosperous time of opportunity for the citizens of Iraq. May you and your children be truly blessed, and live in peace, enjoying life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. For it is these things for which all people yearn.

May the people of Iraq forever be a friend of the people of the United States of America.

    Sincerely,

"We the People" of the United States of America
